If Dallas wraps it up tonight, the finals beginning on June 6th is a little silly. It's probably to Boston's advantage as Horford is a 100 years old, and Porzingis should be ready roll.
The Irving/Boston, Porzingis/Dallas is a nice little subplot.
For all the talk about Dallas letting Brunson walk
Tanked just enough at the end of last year to keep the pick that turned into Dereck Lively.
Made moves for Gafford, P.J. Washington and Derrick Jones.
It's improved their defense and, on offense, the tall targets match up well with Doncic, who is tall enough to both see over the defense and pass over it.
they gambled on Kyrie and it's working out right now. But it was a gamble. When's the last time he had a normal season or a productive playoff run? 2017?
If they signed Brunson to the cheap deal he was willing to take and then traded for another star with everything they've given up the last few years, they'd be set up for a mini dynasty.
is just insane. I think at the very least, I'd take this version of Luka over Peak Harden who was averaging 40 for months at a time and pushing the Durant/Curry Warriors in the playoffs.
Special young player. Boston has been the clear best team in the league this year but the Mavs could easily win this series. I think it comes down to how good a job White/Jrue do on Kyrie.
Boston's main guys are battle tested and have made several deep playoff runs. Seems like Dallas has quite a few young guys in the mix. It might prove to be meaningless - but at the outset it's something to keep an eye on.
Then again, Dallas has the best player in the series. And he might be the best or second best player in the world. Sometimes those guys arrive and win a title a little earlier than you think.
Regardless, I'd like to see a long series with some drama.

Added a lot of length.

Missing Lively tonight.
True, but they still had Luca so it's not as if they were starting from scratch.
As much of a lunatic wild card as Kyrie is, when he decides he wants to really play, he's still a phenomenal player. So that helped too.

Along with Gafford and PJ Washington (who were acquired at the deadline) he has given Mavs the front court and interior defense they were lacking.
Western conference has so many good young teams. Should be a battle each year.
Who ya got? I'm going with the Mavs in 7.
