DL Coach Andre Patterson said he’s been doing some work with the OLBs this year. Change from last year.
Thank god. Drafting a guy that profiled similarly to Danielle Hunter, then not letting him work with the coach who developed Hunter, always struck me as an odd decision.

I feel like this is the first time I've seen Cox captured in either practice or games (I'm sure he has been before). He had such a larger-than-life presence during his NFL career.
Is Evan Neal healthy? Probably not…my gut tells me this pick may have been a waste.
I don't mean to call you out on this...you're thoughts are super common here, but man.
Neal was a universally loved prospect, and is still a very young player. He doesn't have a track record of laziness or off field poor choices. He's had injuries both years that have impacted his mobility.
I'm not here to guarantee he's about to be a pro-bowler...I don't know that. But this idea that he's garbage and a total flop is just way too premature. Tired of everyone shitting on this player.

I guess Sy convinced me of Neal’s balance and feet inadequacies when he evaluated him. He said Neal was often on the ground, which is not good. Apparently, Neal has not progressed in his two years, but I do agree, he has been dinged up each year….which is another concern I have…durability. Did he miss many games in his 4 years at Alabama like he has missed in his 2 years here?

when I post the video of the Q&As with the defensive coaches later today, I really recommend watching it. The Q&As with the position coaches are usually very informative.
Andre Patterson is working with the edge rushers alongside OLB coach Charlie Bullen, which is a change under Shane Bowen.
That’s in addition to Patterson’s responsibility as DL coach. Very smart to mesh DL-edge and add to plate of one of the best position coaches in the league

He may have been his #1, but Sy has been very vocal in cautioning fans to temper their enthusiasm due to his shortcomings. I recall all throughout his rookie season when Neal was struggling big time, Sy would remind us of his balance issues …the same he noticed on his college tape…and was concerned about this. As far as I know, Neal has not proven to Sy that he has gotten over these issues…..so, as a fan, I’m wondering, are his issues something that can be easily correctible with good coaching, or is this a physical limitation defect he will just have to overcome?
And just because Neal was his top rated tackle coming out, this doesn’t guarantee stardom in the NFL. The guys are much bigger, much stronger, much faster. He still has to step up his game….which he pretty much have not done.
Lastly, at this point, I couldn’t care less where Neal was drafted or what his college resume shows….I care about what have you done for me lately and how do you look today?

Yep this is why Patterson is working with Thibs and Burns... Bowen runs more of a 4-2-5 than a 3-4

It's a blessing to have him with the Giants. He's arguably the best DL Coach in the NFL. I hope he got a raise this off-season.
But I'm not going to allow you to have it both ways. You can't use Sy as a defense of your point of view (which is incorrect because we all know you are talking about his pass blocking, not his run blocking), but run away from the fact that he listed him as the #1 OL in the draft.
Neal has played 22 games. He's been hurt both years, including seriously. Whether he can develop or not is TBD. But the team is clearly not moving on from him.
All of the first 3 OT taken in the draft have struggled. It is a big jump to the pro game, is it frustrating, absolutely but patience is key.

They have him at RT right now. Eluemunor is at LG. It's going to stay that way unless Neal continues to struggle.

I’m not surprised by this….he has tendencies to be errant, especially in the short game. I’m HOPING NATHAN ROURKE CAN RISE UP TO BE THE BACK UP….but I realize, decisions are often made for the wrong reasons.

Rough practice for Drew Lock today as the #Giants’ 1st QB up in 11 on 11, although he did hit Malik Nabers for a deep TD up the seam. Brian Daboll calling plays into the huddle again. Daniel Jones looked fine throwing in 7 on 7. About to talk to him. More coming

It will be interesting to see DJ with a great WR. He’s never had one. Not at Duke or NYG. Waller almost last year, but it never materialized. You can’t ignore what happened with Hurts and Tua when they got alpha WRs.
As noted on BBI this should be his go down swinging year. Do it his way. He knows the HC responsibilities and can incorporate calling plays now as most of the offensive HCs in the league do.

Daniel Jones looked good at practice, individual drills and 7-on-7. No signs of any limitations from the injury.
“It feels good,” Jones said.
Malik Nabers looked good too. The two connected on this one and Nabers also got behind the defense for a long TD in 11-on-11 drills.
