Perhaps he could buy out John? Haha. I kid. Not that I wouldn't oppose that, but the Maras are never selling. Hell, 1/2 the family, including 'The Nephew', would have to get jobs on their merits, not their bloodline.
It seems like this is a growing trend with professional athletes. TB12 is apparently trying to get an ownership stake with the LVR. LBJ has talked about owning an NBA team after he calls it quit. MJ recently sold his majority stake with the Hornets. Magic has ownership stakes in the Dodgers, WFT, & LA Sparks.

Doubt that Eli has that much.

Wellington Mara owned 50% of the team when he died, but he had 11 children. Did John really get the entirety of his stake? maybe not all of them got a piece, but some like Chris Mara for example was a VP on staff when Wellington died, why wouldn't he get any ownership? Susan McDonnell (Mara) is on the board. Frank Mara is a VP.

The Commanders just sold for $6 billion. The Giants have to worth close to $7 billion right now.

Wellington's share went to his wife 1st. When she died it was divided among the kids, IIRC.
My guess is that it is some kind of trust, if not the Tischs' would be controlling partners.

That makes sense. I would not be surprised if each of the children own a stake in the team and get a prorated share of the proceeds, but they can't sell or otherwise dispose of them without John Mara's approval. There is no way they will allow future generations to start selling off pieces of the team to go do their own thing.
The arrangement is expressly designed to prevent the fragmentation that brought the Tisch family into the organization following Tim Mara's sale of Jack Mara's stake.
It was a link to an article. It wasn't like I thought this up. And I tend to agree it's farfetched, but I thought worth discussing.

Worth discussing? Eh
Yeah, kinda hope this doesn't happen. No offense, Eli.
