The starters on the line for OTA's looked like the starters going into the season. I feel this is a good upgrade. Thomas, Eluemunor,Schmitz. Runyan and Evans. Agreed!!
started today and we con't know on which side the guards will end up. But as far as the starting OL for game 1, it's probably going to be those 5 guys.
The first team line right now (tackles not healthy)
and I am all for optimism, but I have heard this song before. Every year we go into the season thinking whatever we did should help the OL and every year our line sucks.
For me, I need to see it on the field during the regular season before I believe any of it.
I also think changing the OL coach may have more of a positive impact than what you may think. Maybe even more than a single free agent signing on the line.
Part of the backup plan if Evan Neal fails at RT and Eleumenor has to move over.
If that happens, Runyon and Schmitz would have already been working on their chemistry and Thomas has shown that he can be successful no matter who the LG is. For the record, in the backup plan, I don’t think Neal moves right away to either guard spot. I think he spends the season as the swing tackle, and Stinnie or Ezeudu is the LG. In the backup to the backup plan, Runyon is the LG and Stinnie is the RG.
RE: RE: I would have preferred Cooper Beede 3rd round
Other teams cast offs have not worked. Hopefully these two work out.
And why would you assume that the linemen we signed are “castoffs”?
Because the cautionary statement "past performance is not indicative of future results" hasn't seemed to apply the NYG Offensive Line for well over a decade now.

These are two interesting situations.
Eluemunor was a free agent, he wasn't cut. If you've read his Twitter posts at all the guy genuinely is excited to be here. He grew up in northern NJ and talks about how his Giants were his favorite team and first one he ever saw play in England. Plus Bricillo was his coach with the Patriots and Raiders. He chose the Giants.
Runyan also a free agent, and Giants probably priced out the Packers who have two players in the pipeline. Runyan was a 2020 6th rounder who beat them both out, but they can hope that either Newman (2021 4th) or Rhyan (2022 3rd) can step up.
Even though I don't follow college. I just feel like they will eventually need Eluemenor at RT which may he his best position. With Runyon preferring LG they would be set if a draft pick stepped in at G. Of course we all hope Neal will make this unnecessary.
Reminds me of the draft way back when Gabe Jackson was on the board and Reece reached for Bromley instead. He would have solidified things quite a bit. Perhaps Phillips will be great. It just seems like we have a lot of high round CB picks that are mostly just OK or not good.
I like the free agent signings. But seems like they are one impact player short up front. UNLESS Neal takes a big jump.

To be fair, until we see it can be said for any position on any team.
That said, I agree re: the OLC. I believe that the coach can make all of the difference.
The team has added 5 OL in the 1st 3 rounds of the draft since 2020. They have added several guys this year via FA.
It is high time that player development begins to affect the OL as a whole.
Andrew Thomas, Evan Neal, and Matt Nelson haven't been doing team drills.
Probably means Evan Neal, but who knows.
I just can't believe, with all the bodies they just brought in, they can't find a legit & pro experienced tackle to back up Thomas besides him.
