I saw between Game 1 and Game 1 was that the Rangers overall were much more disruptive. Guys laid bodies every chance they got. Laf laid a hit to make a play on the Trocheck goal that opened up the ice right in front for Vinny to walk in backside untouched to the doorstep. Rempe is a spark plug, listen to the Garden when they see him heading in to forecheck. This was Goodrows best game, the GWG, and he was laying the body every chance he got.
A bunch, and that’s an incredible shot. The goalie read the play pretty well and is moving to his right basically with the pass. They didn’t show a direct front/ back view but there could only have been a tiny window for a split second to hit that top corner and he absolutely sticks it. Unlike the last series, this guy is not giving up anything soft. Had to be a perfect shot and it was, season on the line.
This one is pretty good - ( New Window )
Thanks. Slowed to .25x it looks like a maybe 6" window; Bobrovsky closes most of it with his blocker but the shot gets by anyway. It had to be a vertical puck-width. Perfect snipe.

Rempe for all his green-ness. Needs to be in the lineup. Last night and the regular season show the difference when he's in the lineup.
Yep. The Vesey thing didn't look good. I'm guessing Kakko is back in.
And I wonder if Laviolette would insert Wheeler back in the lineup and take out Roslovic. Roslovic has been awful this series and so has the first line. Kreider-Zibanejad-Wheeler at least had a modicum of success during the season. Couple that with Wheeler's experience and maybe he plays tomorrow afternoon over Roslovic.
Just a thought. Wheeler is a fucking slug out there, though.
effect was as great as fans make it, but good to see him get more than 5-6 min (through three periods). It means the other lines still had some gas. Being on the ice in the final few min and even at least once in OT has to help build confidence.
but if you have not seen it you have to watch his post-game. it is clear why he's a fan favorite with his style of play and his off-ice attitude. He even got a "jiminy crickets" in there. lol.
there was much more Mike-Kreider-Chytil vs Reinhart-Barkov-Tarasenko in game 2 as opposed to game 1. I think that was intentional by Lavy. And that FLA line didn't score or really even have sustained pressure or high danger chances. In fact I'd say Barkov's D was needed to prevent the NYR top line from scoring. That FLA line combined (not just even strength so somewhat skewed) had 6 shots on net. Barkov was sub 50% on face offs (he is averaging 55% in the playoffs)
In a series like this I think you take that, if your top line and their top line cancel each other that's ok.
I thought Chytil has been more noticeable in two games then Wheeler or Roslovic have been in a lot of games.
He has some rust no doubt, and he was very fortunate to not get called for interference or holding or something on the play he lost his stick when Barkov took the puck off him at the blue line, but his presence change transforms that line IMO.
frankly, they were in the cup final last year.
At the beginning of this season, they were a favorite to return.
NY has to figure out Florida’s defense to generate more offense, especially with Fox hobbled.
They aren’t winning this series, with a bunch of 2-1
wins.

At one point, I wasn’t even sure that Tarasenko was playing. That’s how unnoticeable he was.
I actually liked Roslo and Cuylle on the same line. They brought a lot of speed and energy.
On one of the power plays, it seemed like Foxy was dragging his leg around. He waved himself off while the rest of the first unit was still out there. He’s battling.
As others have mentioned, the gap between Bobrovsky and the previous goalies the Rangers faced is Grand Canyon-esque.
The Rangers have to feel good about the fact they’ve yet to allow a non-fluke 5v5 goal and that the high danger chance thru two games seems to be even at worst, but perhaps tilting in their favor.
That was a battle. And another mark in this team's favor in terms of responding to adversity. A noticeable difference in compete level from game 1. Getting in on the forecheck, winning puck battles, taking the body. A lot of guys responded well to the challenge. Even guys that are noticeably struggling like Roslovic or Wennberg are still competing for pucks and battling. That was big boy hockey last night. It's not going to be perfect, 60 minutes of beautiful hockey. Florida is too good at mucking it up. But they were persistent, the better team in OT, deserved win.
Chytil is noticeably getting more comfortable out there. He's going to score soon. Keep him on that first line wing. Agreed to those saying a strong game from Trouba. His ability to lay a hit and knock guys off pucks is important in this series. One of the better games for the Trouba/Miller pair in a long time. K'Andre skating the puck out to break the forecheck, let's see more of that. Can't say enough about Trocheck. Mika has his hands full with Barkov but I thought he really competed (what a monster Barkov is by the way).
Kreider and Panarin I think have more they can give. But those two tend to feed off the confidence of the powerplay. Let's see some off day adjustments implemented for the PP before game 3
Kakko should get his chance again with Vesey out. I don't have much of an issue with no major on the Kulikov hit. Trouba walks that line all the time. But that Lomberg hit on Vesey was a total cheapshot. Puck was nowhere near, he launched at his head with his own head!
And I've been a bit skeptical of the Rempe impact. But there is a noticeable change in energy with him in there. He had to play more with the Vesey injury and he made some plays with the puck. He had an impact. Think he had 8 or 9 hits. He makes the opposition think twice when they're going back to retrieve pucks knowing he's coming. Keep playing like that and he'll have a role to play.
Rangers were the better team tonight. Deserved win.
Was thinking this throughout the 3rd and OT but how shitty it would feel if they still lost and fell behind 2-0. Now we can just feel good all day long. I’m getting drunk today and living life to the fullest with dreams of a finals trip dancing in my head. Rangers nation may you all enjoy the wonderful day. Be ready for tomorrow.
would be my guess. No reason to rush him back. Get Kakko back in the lineup. And keep Rempe in there. And if Lavi wants to get Rempe out of the lineup on the road in FL, then put Wheeler in there. The good thing is we have some depth and options right now. Which is very good this late in the playoffs.
...what a break for hockey fans. Wischusen is the gold standard right now IMO.
Said it weeks ago. You've been Kenny Albert guy, no? imo he's small step up from McDonough, robotic automaton, fills in gaps in his tracking game flow with extraneous info (for imp of play at hand) all game long.

I don't mind Albert, but I'm generally not a "broadcaster guy" - meaning sometimes on here fans complain incessantly about the football broadcast. I don't usually really care much.
I liked Mike Emrick, Bob Cole, guys who enhanced the watching experience.
So, I never minded Albert or McDonough to be honest, but I enjoyed Wischusen since ESPN got the contract and I heard him more.
That said I don't love Ray Ferraro - mostly his voice not his commentary (but his commentary isn't great either). I liked Eddie Olczyck better - I think Edzo is doing the WCF.
Soucy gets a one game suspension for the x-check to McDavid's neck, which real time looked blatant. But that was McDavid, yet not a minute missed. Vesey may miss week(s) from what looks like a head shot. DOPS is not known for its careful review, hey, what the hell, it's only a head shot, it's only Vesey
He missed two games (three?). Bennett got nothing except a post-game interview and some yukks from the TNT crew. This is how Panthers play. Mottolla slams Chytil into the boards with no time remaining and a 3-0 score. Is this causing Artemi to go into a '23 like Playoff shell? Fox, already hobbled?
Presumably Kakko will come back in, but I guess it could be Wheeler.
Wheeler would be a huge mistake. KK isn’t a great skater but he looks like McDavid next to Wheeler. And given Vesey’s role as a defensive bottom 6 forward a swap with Kakko is seemless.
In all honesty I’d put Kakko on the third line, scratch Roslivic and put Brodz on the 4th in Veseys place but that might be a bit too much turn over for Lavy’s liking after a win

That wasn't close to head shot by Lomberg on Vesey. It was shoulder to shoulder very clearly. You should watch it again. lot of video out there. Maybe it was late, and maybe interference but not remotely close to a head shot.

irrelevant to the discussion so didn't see the need to provide my opinion.

I agree that that wasn’t a headshot but I thought the Kulikov hit on Wennberg was.
Lomberg is a little shit, but the guy hits and plays hard….i want to see Rempe eat him.
hit is tricky. Initial reaction I thought was a head shot and easy call for a major, but I also agree with Messier after the fact, if you don't call Panarin on Oshie then how do you call Kulikov on Wennberg, it was basically the same hit and the league judged them consistently.
the league explanation (which I wasn't aware of) is the rule is the head *can* be hit even first, as long as its not the primary point of contact. That's where it gets kind of subjective. How do you define primary point of contact. Without that defined, in my view there was a lot of body in both those hits (Panarin and Kulikov).
If they called it a major I would not have argued, but I also buy the league explanation too.
looked worse real time than on review and I like the rule of reviewing majors, and the tendency refs now have on ice of ruling anything questionable a major so they can review it and see for sure in slow motion.
With the rule explanation (if that's actually how the rule is written) I think they got it right, but again if they ruled it a major I would also not thought they got it wrong. Tricky hit (and a couple Trouba hits the past few playoffs fall into this category too).

Agreed, he's great.
The 5v5 xGF is neck and neck, slight edge to FLA which I expected.
the all situations is significantly skewed in NYR favor, it was one of my keys to the series coming in.
Pulled from HockeyStatMiner tweet:
all-situations expected goals (adjusted)
FLA NYR
MoneyPuck 4.49 5.44
EvolvingHockey 5.91 6.05

I just love the way Trocheck competes. Just awesome to watch. He is the Rangers playoff MVP so far
