NFT: The greatest weekend in motorsports

Who else is ready for the Monaco GP, Indy 500, and Coke 600?
Unfortunately it’s looking like rain for Indy…

Mostly looking forward to Monaco as I’m primarily an F1 fan. Qualifying will of course be key. Too bad the Indy wet weather wasn’t at Monaco.

Red Bull all of a sudden looks beatable. We’ll see if Ferrari or McLaren have what it takes.

I haven’t watched any Indy car or NASCAR this year; Sunday will be my first.
Funny that I have heard

nothing of Indy qualifying this year. It used to dominate sports in May. Not a peep this year that I saw.

In reality once the Holmans basically took over the series I lost interest.
Agreed

But unfortunately Monaco is all about quals as the race is a glorified parade after they go through the first corner. I used to love Indy Car, but pretty much reduced to watching just the 500. With the changes that have been made to the cars, at least there is good racing during the race. Hopefully, the weather holds out or they just move it to Monday so it’s not a shortened affair.

That is mostly true as passing is so difficult.

A wet weekend (looks like not for 2024) or a lot of safety cars or red flags typically are needed to mix things up.

Some drivers, Verstapppen being one, can pull off some amazing passes at Monaco. If a Ferrari or a McLaren is on pole, that could reallly make things interesting.

In all honesty

I've shifted away from F1 and more toward IRL. There is just more passing, stratgey and drama. At least in my view. Not there is that in F1, but with Red Bull domiance my interest has wained.

The Indy 500 is a great event but I am not sure it shows off the IRL in its best light. Watch a race at Barber Motorsports park or Mid-Ohio and those races and interesting.

My interest in NASCAR has lessened over the years, as well. I prefer turning left and right. I tune in from time to time. Also the shifting the TV broadcast from networks catches me out. Add in the fact it is very rarely shown on generic TV stations. You have to sign into Peacock, TNT or Fox sports. That and you have to dsign with vwith a cable provider. I ditched the cabe a few years back, so I am sort of stuck. The individua, racing leagues should negotiate their TV deals so they can sell a stand along watching package. I know that takes eyes away from the TV networks, but I would be more likely to sign up for a season, that to have to deal with the networks themseleves.

Sucks about the rain at Indy. I was looking forward to seeing if Kyle Larson could pull off the double. That has not been attempted in a few years now.

VER all the way down in p6.

Wonder how LEC will bin it from pole this year 😂
A Big Challenge For Verstappen With An Inferior Setup

Seems more likely McLaren might steal the race from Ferrari than Red Bull.

I bet Max is still on the podium.

I’m bummed Alonzo is starting so far back.
Monaco is classic
bluefin : 5/26/2024 10:48 am : link
but nobody can pass, which makes it a bit boring for the average fan that isn’t an F1 fanatic.
Super stoked

Charles brought it home. Kept thinking some type of disaster was going to ruin his race.
F1 Needs To Make Changes At Monaco

Force all 3 tire compounds to be used or force 2 pit stops. They should not have counted the tires changed after the first lap incident as a tire change.
Another Great Finish

To the Indy 500. It’s becoming pretty standard for the last 50 laps to be a shoot out with lots of slicing and dicing at 220 mph! Was cheering for Newgarden, but feel bad for Pato. That kid is going to win at Indy at some point.

Agreed. As McLaren I was heartbroken watching Pato get passed.

Also Mother Nature is not a racing fan. We get a dry Monaco and have the other two races impacted by rain 😭
What's not to like

how the Indy 500 played out?

Your guy ight not have won the race but they were racing till the end there. 3 lines of strategy were playing out. And they seemed to all mostly work out. At least the rase was not won completely on fuel mileage.

Let them run what they brung, to the finish!

Completely agree. I hate when it becomes a fuel mileage affair. The racing was fantastic all race long.
