NGT: Recent NYG OL Billy Price retires early from football

FranknWeezer : 5/25/2024 9:35 pm
Due to a medical condition.

Many will recall we traded with Cincy for him and gave up DT BJ Hill in the deal.

Was a 27 year old former 1st round pick. It was a gamble but not a big one. They wouldn't have re-signed BJ with Leo and Dexter inside.
The real downside of trading for Price

was that it caused Nick Gates to be moved to guard, where he immediately suffered the broken leg that effectively cost him his Giants' career.

Giants were in a frame of mind to "do something" about the OL because of the knee injury to Shane Lemieux at the start of camp and the retirements of new arrivals Zach Fulton and Joe Looney.

In retrospect, Giants should have just gone forward with the acquisitions of Ben Bredeson and Matt Skura, and gotten use out of BJ Hill for that season, even if they let him walk for a possible comp pick. Or traded him for someone/something else.
