we should all get very angry about the terms of this imaginary contract extension.
I’m assuming that’s meant at me & I also presume that-if he indeed got a new contract-it wouldn’t be for less $ than he was making before the possible new deal.
Supposedly, his agents is Michael Perrett (Priority Sports). I hope they know what they're doing and understand the realities that Slayton has to deal with.
Roc Nation's Kim Miale really messed up Saquon Barkley, a couple of years ago, convincing him to reject an excellent multi-year deal with the Giants. I think it created hard feelings with the Giants, so eventually they let him walk.
The best agent tells you the truth and let the individual player make up his own mind, from that point. The unscrupulous ones just see that large fee, leaving it to the player to be seen as "the bad" guy, they don't care, they have a big list of other clients to cash-in on.
I thought this before the draft but still think he a player I'm willing to extended at a reasonable rate if he agrees.
27 years old
Constant 750 yds a year if you take out his one injured year
Still has speed
Knows the offense
The only veteran in the group
Likable and smart guy who proved to win his job back
His current contract is 8.1 mil against the cap
Adding a couple years and lowering that number to make room for another signing is ok with me.
He would be a depth WR to end his career as a giant and can play important snaps when called upon.

Giving him a few million cash more adding one or two years extension wouldn’t. The end the world. He’s a solid 3/4 WR who’s been forced to be the #1 due to injuries. Paying a 3/4 WR 6 million ish a year isn’t insane. And of all the guys on this team that fact that so many seem any here is a bigger mystery than who built the pyramid or why Taylor Swift is so popular
I like Slayton, he's been a positive player on a team without an elite QB. I also think he'd been a good veteran WR in the room with Malik Nabers to learn from.
I think we want Hyatt to pass Slayton on the depth chart, because he's younger and cheaper. But there's no guarantee he will. WRs and TEs walk into the NFL and produce (like Slayton did).
There's certainly open questions about why Hyatt didn't. The quarterback play sucked, the offense was a mess, etc. Perfectly reasonable mitigating circumstances. Plus he'll be playing opposite of Nabers which is obviously more conducive to big play opportunities.
But he didn't prove he's the guy we're hoping him to be. What if he's not?
If Hyatt is Josh Downs next year, that would be awesome. That would make Hyatt, Slayton.

While I also thought SB's agent screwed the pooch, lets be honest it has worked out great for him. He got $36MM guaranteed over 3 years. A lot more than I think he is worth. Plus a chance to play on a good team behind a real OL. What more could he ask for?
Why the "Good Lord?" He's a good player and has been a productive, led the Giants in receivingf yards past 3-4 seasons.
Because he doesn’t deserve a raise IMO.
A new contract does not necessarily mean a raise. It could mean more money in his future. Slayton knows he is closer to the end of his career than the beginning. What if he wants to retire a Giant and wants a contract to take him there. It really is about the details. We cant complain our depth sucks and not contemplate contracts for depth players. Slayton would be great depth player are the right cost. Starters will get hurt and you need someone to take those snaps and not have the wheels come off. Slayton could provide that for a couple more years. So its how much is that worth, and how much does he think he is worth in 2 years. When building a young core with Nabers,Hyatt,Robinson, it would be nice to have a trusted vet to show them how to be a pro, deal with adversity, break down film, learn CB tendencies from someone who has already faced them. On top of that Slayton would be WR4 going against a lot weaker competition than he has the past.
Or he might have a new contract.
No, they cut him.

Good point. You know something? :)

No. But he's either back because he got a new contract or he's back because he realizes he's in a risky position.

And re-signed Golloday.
He might be asked to take a paycut
