#Giants QB Daniel Jones was 5 of 6 passing in 7-on-7 drills today. Connected twice with Wandale Robinson.

Drew Lock took all first-team reps in team drills. He was 17 of 23. Three of those completions were very obvious sacks. Lock missed quite bad on a few others.

Lock did make a nice long completion to Robinson. Robinson’s had a good couple days here in the media-open practices.

There was a lot of speculation during the GM searches about the connection between Brandon Brown and Jim Harbaugh.
Brown laughed and would not offer too many details, but said when Giants had joint practices in Detroit last summer, a group of NYG execs spent a day at Michigan, and that's where Brown and Harbaugh broke bread, so to speak.
Brown was a finalist for the Chargers' GM job that went to Joe Hortiz. #NYGiants

Pat Leonard
@PLeonardNYDN
#Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown said today that he got to know Jim Harbaugh and connected last summer when the Giants front office took a trip to U of Michigan while joint practicing against the Lions in Detroit. That’s one connection to his eventual candidacy for the Chargers GM vacancy this past offseason

You're comparing a private website with virtually no overhead, including employees who get salary and benefits, to major media outlets? Does Eric have reporters and photographers and editors working for him covering the OTAs? Ask him if this site would be free if he had 7 or 8 employees making $75K to $100k in salary and benefits.
No, this site links to the free info from other news sources. And posts info from team press releases and its website. This is a great site for discussing the Giants. But it rarely reports news, it repeats it. Which is the root of the comment on the reporters tweeting so little.

Touchdowns

Quarterback Drew Lock found undrafted rookie receiver Ayir Asante in stride in the end zone for a long score during 11-on-11 work.

Takeaways

Cornerback Darnay Holmes, who re-signed with the Giants this offseason, returned a fumble for what would have likely been a touchdown.

More Top Plays & Notes

Quarterback Daniel Jones opened 7-on-7 drills with completions to wide receivers Wan'Dale Robinson, Allen Robinson II, Asante and Darius Slayton.

Slayton racked up a handful of catches on connections with Lock during team periods.

Lock's best throw of the day was a long pass to Wan'Dale Robinson, placing it perfectly with velocity to get through the levels of the defense. Lock also connected with sixth overall pick Malik Nabers, whom the quarterback said has potential to be a major factor in the NFL.

Cornerback Deonte Banks prevented a possible touchdown by breaking up a long pass attempt at the front-left corner of the end zone. Fellow cornerback Nick McCloud and safety Dane Belton also forced incompletions.

Outside linebackers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari found their way into the backfield for what would have been sacks on separate plays. Inside linebacker Carter Coughlin also sped up a pass for an incompletion as Banks provided coverage on the back end.

Outside linebacker Boogie Basham batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage.

Lock threw a nifty sidearm pass to rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tight ends Lawrence Cager and Jack Stoll got on the board with receptions.

Touchdowns & Takeaways: Giants reach midway point of OTAs - ( New Window )
Schmeelk's report
Eric from BBI : Admin : 5/30/2024 3:30 pm : link
Quote:

* I watched the defensive backs work in individual drills over the last couple of days, and it's pretty obvious the new defensive scheme will continue to focus on trying to take the ball away. Last season, the Giants were tied with the Ravens with the most takeaways in the regular season with 31. Of those, 18 were interceptions, which was tied for the third-most in the NFL.

If the Giants do, in fact, employ a more zone heavy scheme under new defensive coordinator Shane Bowne, there could be even more opportunities for interceptions. There's an emphasis in practice on identifying the ball in the air and making plays on it. The drills concentrated on going after the football on vertical routes and routes where the cornerback has to break and come back toward the line of scrimmage to play the football.

* The defensive backfield had a strong day in practice. Dane Belton began the first part of team work by breaking on a short pass to Wan'Dale Robinson and nearly coming up with an interception. Deonte Banks played good coverage all afternoon. He ran step for step with Jalin Hyatt on a deep pass and undercut a throw to Darius Slayton. Fourth-year cornerback Stanley Thomas-Oliver prevented a completion to Miles Boykin, who otherwise has had a very productive set of OTAs.

* Darnay Holmes made the play of the day, knocking a ball loose and recovering it before bringing it back the other way. I'm not sure he would have turned it into a touchdown off the takeaway, but it would have put the team in great field position. In the final team period, Holmes also showed good coverage down the field on a deep route. Holmes has been in the middle of the action on a lot of plays throughout the spring.

* The offense made some plays throughout practice. At the end of the first team period, Drew Lock showed his pocket presence, stepping up and hitting Wan'Dale Robinson on a deep throw across the field for a 20-yard gain to the right side. Lock has shown the willingness and the ability to throw the ball off his back foot. He has more than enough arm strength to get zip on the ball in those situations. Lock also showed off his legs later in practice, running for a long again after being unable to find someone open down the field.

* Hyatt made a good hands catch on a high-velocity pass over his head coming back towards the quarterback.

* Later in practice, Lock found undrafted rookie free agent Ayir Asante on a touchdown over the top in the middle of the field. It was a perfect throw after Asante found a lot of separation behind the defense.

* Azeez Ojulari got into the backfield on one pass play, which could have been a sack if it were full-speed contact. Boogie Basham knocked a ball down at the line of scrimmage. Linebacker Darius Muasau showed off his coverage ability.

To say this site copy and pastes information from websites is a gross mischaracterization of what the site provides. Gary does the website design. Eric has 2 moderators. Eric does his game previews and reviews. Sy and other posters provide content not found anywhere else.

There is always cost and time associated with the upkeep of this site and Eric could very well charge for access to cover costs and make a profit off of what the site provides. He doesn't, so for you to question whether he works for free is a ridiculous question.

Businesses can operate how they choose and we can choose whether we want to pay for that service or not.

It is silly that reporters may hold back simple information like 1st and 2nd team personnel to get fans to pay to read their content. We as consumers decide what the market is. Feel free to pay for that information if you like, but I'm guessing you won't, because you are on a free site bitching about the owner and questioning whether he works for free or not.
