realistically i dont expect any productive discussions until the ASB. I think stearns wanted to see if Alonso is a player he wants to keep around forgetting price, and part of that is how he and the team perform first half.
if stearns concludes he is, i assume he will take a run at offering him a reasonable extension to gauge where things stand before the deadline.
unless they totally low ball it, it would be pretty ballsy for pete to pass on any extension of 3+ years.

I'm guessing Baty's gonna be at Syracuse until the trade deadline (July 30th).

McReynolds had a really good year, but anyone voting for him over Straw was a fool.
if they can go into the 2 games vs PHI 27-35 and split in London to be 28-36, they come back to a very favorable schedule rest of first half.

if they can be anywhere near .500 before those 14 games, they can get over .500 at the ASB.
