Some of the beats on Nabers' Thursday...

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 6/6/2024 7:04 pm
Pat Leonard
@PLeonardNYDN

Just walked off the #Giants’ practice field. Malik Nabers was ELECTRIC today. 2 deep TDs from Drew Lock:

One on a 9 route down the left sideline vs Cor’Dale Flott on an accurate deep Lock throw

And a leaping, highlight-reel catch on a Lock improv rollout and shot play over top of the safeties. Nabers improv’d, flew up high and snagged the ball and appeared to land in bounds inside the left sideline in the end zone — incredible catch

In early routes, he made an insane grab on a Daniel Jones throw way out in front of him

Big day for the Giants’ 1st round pick

Art Stapleton
@art_stapleton

On Malik Nabers today: I have not seen a receiver have a practice like he did today since Odell. Wish I can give you more than words and the video is the team opts to put out.
Jumped off the page, so to speak. If this were training camp, my word.
#NYGiants

Dan Duggan
@DDuggan21

Nabers had a monster day. Had two long TD catches. The second one was an acrobatic leaping grab in the end zone

Chris B from the The Giant Insider Podcast posted a video: "Malik Nabers...he looks like the real deal.'

So the two plays downfield for TDs were throws from Luck and the one that was way out in front of him that he had to make a great play on was from Jones. Not surprising

Oh brother, just maybe Jones was testing Nabers speed to learn what the rookie is capable of. Why does everything have to be viewed as Jones doing something poorly?

Because of people who somehow find a "maybe Jones did that on purpose" explanation for every time Jones makes a mistake?

No, it's not. And both of Nabers' TD receptions today came from Lock.

If he made the catch

But it's tough for me to get excited about practice sessions anymore after last season with how we kept hearing how great the offense was in training camp (and even saw them in pre-season) and then how awful they turned out to be in the regular season. Last season took all the air out of practices for me probably forever, lol.

Was a note about one big play to Nabers would have been a sack in real time because Kayvon Thibodeaux badly beat Josh Ezeudu who was lined up at RT.

Hopefully Neal gets in there sooner than later. If not, they must move over Eluemunor.

Haha, classic post. Daniel Jones testing out Nabers' capabilities.

Well sure, I can see that. If Nabers isn't going to be able to perform to the level required of a gunslinger like Daniel Jones, he might as well know now. That way Jones can go elsewhere with his downfield throws in 2024.

should read all the beats reports. Jones had 5 TDs in six plays on plays inside the 10...

As far as a ball being way overthrown, couldn't have been too overthrown if it was caught. Add that Jones is getting limited snaps so his timing is going to be off. We are talking about OTAs without pads. How about we be happy that Nabers looks very good.

Just like the beats predicting sacks or saying Burns or Thibs likely would have had sacks on a play. How do you say that when the oline isn't in pads. Pretty easy for a defender to just run around a player when there is micro-contact.

Again, the only gripe about the DJ throw wasn't actually about the throw itself. It was about the silly suggestion that maybe DJ did it on purpose to test Nabers.

No one cares about the actual throw being a little bit out in front and Nabers having to adjust to it, because that's the point of drafting a receiver like Nabers. But to suggest that Jones did it on purpose is inane.

I agree that the "testing" POV was beyond a stupid comment so stupid I glossed right over it. But no, people(person) were making snide comments on the Jones throw being inaccurate as if it were part and parcel. If the "testing" comment was stupid, so were the ones implying Jones is expected to be inaccurate, especially in OTAs and after knee surgery 6/7 months ago.

Plus, all the reports on the day were that Jones looked great. Obviously you can't read much into OTA reports, but if people choose to comment on them, you would hope they would get the reporting facts right. Some folks on this thread don't even seem to be aware that Jones is not fully participating and is in on 7-7s but not 11-11's yet. So Lock taking those reps. It's not like this hasn't been discussed/reported over and over. Nothing like an agenda, I guess.

You are trying too hard to rationalize. One silly throw away line and you are hanging on it more than those disparaging him that he made a somewhat offline throw(yet still completed it). I think we can all agree he wasn't just seeing if Nabers can catch a poorly thrown ball on purpose. What is sad is disparaging a guy for the slightly offline throw in OTAs while recovering from ACL surgery.
