We're trying another series thread since people like them. We'll consolidate our chat for these two games and the off-day on Monday here before the Mets return home on Tuesday to play the last-place Marlins. For those of you on the East Coast, enjoy these two early games--especially tomorrow's.

Notes:
-Both games of this 2-game set will be televised exclusively on national television. Today’s game will be on FOX and tomorrow’s will be on ESPN.
-The weather forecast for today's game at London Stadium looks decent. Click HERE to keep updated and see Hourly AccuWeather Reports for there.
-There is a five-hour time difference between New York and London, with London being 5 hours ahead. The Mets flew to London from D.C. after the game three days ago against the Nationals, so they’ve had some time to adjust to the time difference they’re facing. The Mets are half a game behind the Nats going into today and have a game in hand on them, so if the Mets win today, they’ll be tied for third place. The Phillies continue to have the best record in all of MLB, so the Mets have their hands full again with them today & tomorrow.

-Click HERE to see the list of Mets transactions to start the month of June.
-Click HERE to see the Mets' 26-man active roster.
-The Mets' 4-man bench for today’s game will consist of Nido (R), Taylor (R), McNeil (L), & Stewart (L).

He did. Guy's a hack. 90s Prisonstriper flashbacks for him.
Yikes, Pete took a 100mph heater to the meat of the thigh.

He also just said "here comes Vientos" after he was taken out 2 batters ago for a punch runner
What the hell is Nimmo looking for with that pitch

Just swing the damn bat. Such a soft team.
Kay is awful.

Said the Mets put up a 4-spot in the Top of the ninth (when they scored 3 not 4) as the inning ended. It's nice having friends in high places, ain't it?
We are spoiled watching Gary, Keith, and Ron.

Garrett worries me closing this.
The Mets inability to capitalize on the bottom of the ninth
CooperDash : 6/9/2024 1:27 pm : link
could come back to haunt them. Hopefully not.

It's not like they have a bunch of options when their starters pitch duds on consecutive days

It’s not the Phillies that should sicken you…it’s this soft Mets team that should grind your gears. The Mets are handing the game to them.

Drew Smith ran his course here a while ago - that’s the point.

Props to Torrens---from one former catcher about another. That throw was a tough one to make and credit to Pete getting low and scoopin it up.

Looking forward to this week at home against the Marlins....by the time Tuesday night's game is played, the Mets will have gone almost a full week without a night game.

And, looking forward to a more normal schedule.

Amazing they came away with a split....top of the 9th was a little league rally if I ever saw one...one ball out of the infield and scored three runs?

Also, as someone wondered, what is Nimmo doing watching strike three with two in scoring position and one out? Swing the bat....

Only guessing, but:

1) Unlikely to draw well on a weekday.
2) Have to add full travel days on either side of the series.

Fair enough. The Mets can pay them back in that department when they play them next in a little over three months on September 19th at Citi Field. Maybe Lindor will stop hugging almost everyone who reaches second base by then. No one on that team is their friend.

Need an even number so you can do home and home
got the split they needed
Eric on Li : 6/9/2024 7:40 pm : link
phillies have now handed them 2 wins, which is odd for a team that's playing so well.

need to string together a some series wins now that the schedule eases up. next 6 home vs miami and sd. then 6 at texas/cubs. all 3 opponents currently under .500.
I just found out
Pete in MD : 6/9/2024 9:48 pm : link
I "know" the guy who flew/is flying the Phillies back from London. He's a charter pilot, and way extended family through marriage.
when alvarez is ready do they go nido or torrens for backup?
Eric on Li : 6/10/2024 10:45 am : link
torrens has obviously been hot but nido had done really well prior to his arrival over a bigger sample. he hit a lot of hard balls and played solid defense.

nido has the bigger salary so you may be able to sneak him through waivers, but i think he'd get claimed with how he's played.

Any chance we can get anything for Nido in a small trade since Torrens has options?

not impossible, but it wont be anything that impactful. would probably either be cash or maybe a fringe BP arm?

not sure it will be enough that it's not better to just waive him and hope he sneaks through, though if someone is offering to trade for him then that team is probably claiming him.

The interviews with Lindor and then Verdugo last night while they're in the field are a waste. ESPN lighting 20K on fire.

There was technically nothing illegal about the slide, but it was cheap. The ball was already out when the baserunner got there, and it was right in front of him. No biggie, just hope the pitching staff remembers that clown if he gets an AB next series they play.

Thanks Kev.

Mets' pitchers oughta put Garrett Stubbs on their "to be hit list" when they see them next in September at Citi Field, no matter what happens with Torrens roster-wise in June.
