DL better be good because I’m worried about the DB, especially opposite Banks.
_____________
I’m not concerned about the DBs. Giants lost a safety who, although efficient, didn’t make a lot of big plays, and an overpaid cornerback who is on the downside and wasn’t a playmaker even in his prime years. THis year may not see a dramatic improvement but it will be some improvement.
Our two edge players, who were/are really more OLBs are now DEs and part of the defensive line? Are we running a 4-3 (or a 4-2-5). I get he expects pressure from a 4 man rush but are we expecting KT and Burns to be the DEs on early downs as well. Anyone have any insight on this.
Issues with that said I feel good about the young secondary growing together.
I also feel this offense can and will be explosive this year with an improved line.

You're not the only one who's confused. After reading some of the OTA reports, it sounds like Bowen wants to run a 4-1-6 quite often, which seems kind of light-in-the-pants to me.
Need somebody not named Dex to also hold up at the point of attack
Too hung up on 4-3, 3-4 and other alignments. Thibs and Burns can both play from the defensive line position (hand on the ground) or linebacker position. It all depends on down and distance, personnel and defensive play call.
When on run defense calls, I would imagine more of a heavy set on the defensive line with burns and Thibs on the outside linebacker spots with Okereke.

People have been hung up on this for a long time...the NFL has changed, and the nomenclature used referring to defensive systems is not the same anymore.
I was trying to explain to my dad, that teams are in nickel majority of the time. What you are really looking at is how often teams run 5 man or 4 man fronts...
De/OLB doesn't reflect the actual player or position well enough anymore...hence why football people refer to those guys as Edge players now.
Bowen definitely ran lighter packages on early downs - we will see a mix of 4 and 5 man fronts, but trying to figure out if we are a 3-4 or a 4-3 team is a useless exercise in 2024 imo.
The fact that Daniel Jones looks healthy is good news
basically 1 vet reserve at each spot (nacho, ojulari, simmons, holmes, mills, long) and 6-7 slots for young guys/STers to make roster (belton, hawkins, mccloud, coughlin, adams, muasau, owens, djd, riley, anderson, basham, etc).
they have some space to add a vet or 2 post-waller, i think id go with 2 or 3 cheaper players over 1 big splash and id try to hold some in reserve in case of injuries or trade opps closer to cutdown.

Not really sure how Bowen will set this up or what to expect. But if it works as well as in Tennessee, it should be fine.

He's listed as an OLB but depending on potato chip consumption could be a DT.

He's not new.
While Jones is a new Giants (maybe all-time NFL) high-water mark, after a few bad games the backup inevitably, progressively, morphs into Tom Brady.
if so the personnel start making more sense:
burns, phillips, lawrence, thibodeaux
okereke, mcfadden
banks, flott, phillips/mccloud
pinnock, nubin/belton

It looked more like a 2-4-5 because Wink had Thibs, Ojulari, and Ward playing in a two-point stance most of the time.
