He’s had a relatively down year, maybe I’d even dare to say a slight disappointment. Sinner has played much better the last half/full year or so and had clearly passed him up on the player rankings. Djokovic was doing his typical thing and clearly ahead of Alcaraz in that same timespan.
But then he takes out Sinner/Zverev in impressively clutch fashion to become the youngest player to win a GS on all 3 surfaces at the French. Just 21 years old and only needs an AO to complete the career Grand Slam.
Hell of a start to his career. I think Sinner is also the real deal and is the new #1 ranked player in the world as of today. Hopefully Sinner/Alcaraz can create a special rivalry like the big 3 did.
I’m glad Zverev didn’t win but he played an impressive tournament and had moments where he looked better than ever imo.
Iga is also simply a beast. Possibly the best non-Serena player we’ve seen in a long time.

I agree: let's see more Sinner/Alcaraz going forward. I was bummed the Sinner match was a SF, but Zverev showed up in the Final and it was really tense and gripping theater yesterday. Happy about the outcome though. Impossible not to root for Carlos. Just so brilliant.

Unless Djokovic is back for a deep run at Wimbledon, those two are likely to hold 1 & 2 in the rankings through the US Open, so won't be drawn for a matchup before the finals.

Really wonder how Novak will fare the rest of this year and honestly the rest of his career. He's been such a machine over the years that it's hard for me to envision him falling off. It's definitely a new era though, with Alcaraz and Sinner looking studly.
Kid is a phenom!
Nadals footsteps are very well taken care of
