I dont see the need at this point. We have plenty of younger options that you would rather see if they can be long term solutions then give snaps to those types.

i think at CB2 i would agree, but i think early in camp CB2, DT2, Swing T, Edge are positions to watch.
if flott doesnt perform and looks overmatched - sign someone.
If Nelson busts/isnt healthy at T - sign someone.
If Basham/Azeez arent reliable as your 3rd Edge - sign someone.
For DT - if Phillips isnt available - get someone - hes the only pass rusher type we have at DT.
we might need to sign an Edge run stuffer type as well if someone doesnt emerge.
i hope all 4 of these groups perform well early in training camp/preseason/joint practices so we can keep the cap space and not have to do restructures.
To a one year deal makes sense. Let the young guys play. Roll over the cap into 2025. They only have 11M cap space next year as it stands…this would give them more cushion in the future.
Probably would like to hold on to this for a little in case an injury strikes during camp/preseason.
Who knows. Maybe a player they covet is still out there? I could see another RB vet being brought in. Maybe a DL. I don’t see corner but who knows. Again injuries will tell the story.
Who shakes loose from other rosters during final cuts. Anyone signed after the final 53 are non guaranteed contracts, right?
Injuries and roster holes once the pads come on could spur moves. If they see a glaring need during the preseason they could make a move before hand. Matt Nelson and Jordan Phillips questionable health comes to mind, I think they need both. They could also make a bigger splash like when they lost Xavier McKinney and gave Logan Ryan good money as an instant fix.
No reason to over play now. It’s why guys like Gilmore are still around. They want. To get as much as they can. Just scratch Xavian Howard off any list. He’s grade A pile of shit. Just google him. Sent revenge porn to one ex and to another ex’s son.
Even if the Giants over perform roll w the younger guys. A real pass rush would do wonders for the DBs. And is they can’t get a pass Russ w Burns Thibs and Dex we got bigger problems than CB2.
JS starts the season with more cash and FAR more flexibility than his first two. No need to look for cap space to cover expansion to 53 salaries, pay PS, IR backfills etc. But if needed, there are at least a half dozen restructures available that will not hamstring future caps.
The Giants will have $12,720,031 of CAP space with Waller's retirement.
The Giants have numerous ways to create additional CAP space if they choose.
Restructuring contracts can do this.
In addition, some players, who further reduce the Giant's CAP space will be released.
Players that should be concerned are Bashem, Robinson, and Gillan. Cutting those three would free up another $5,000,000 in CAP space.
Additionally, the Giants can sign free agents to the league minimums and prorate a signing bonus over voidable years.
The Giants can acquire any free agents that they may want.

we thought that about waller and jones, we regret both those signings and subsequent restructures.

This is true. They probably shouldn't, since it does not seem that this is a team prepared to make a run.
what they have now. Watch the wires to see who shakes loose. If certain positions like CB2 and DT do not pan out, then they can pick up a vet for near minimum deal.
But that $10-$12 range is a good place to be heading into the season.

Why not? I don’t think the Giants are looking at it like that. Mara’s spent more than a 3rd of a billion $$$$ the last 2 years in guaranteed $$$$. It’s time to win. This should be a Playoff team bare minimum.
another non vet min type deal isnt coming.
giants dont have a lot of cap space either next year.
Will of course need more than that to get through the season.

with waller retirement we are like at 11 million.

OK, wasn't clear to me whether you were talking before or after.

Vet contracts that are signed after Week 1 of the season are non-guaranteed.
