How much could having a minority owner affect fans? Very little. Lurie would remain in control of the team. With no path to a controlling interest, a partial owner would have little impact on what fans see and experience. Minority owners don’t get to set ticket prices, draft players, or hire or fire the coach. |
I believe that's the general idea. It's bonus money which often is signing bonus...etc.
Also, maybe he's thinking the class action suit is going to land.
Lurie is turning 73 this fall. Not super old, but also, he's not a spring chicken so change will come. They also lost Jake Rosenberg who was there for 12 years & was Howie's right hand man. The more change you add there, the better. The cracks were showing in the roster late last year as they got old and now have lost a big part of their leadership core to retirement. Siranni is a clown show who was buffered by a strong front office and roster, but as that decays little by little, the dam will break and that thing can collapse very quickly...think Dream Team starting in 2011 and then 4-12 in 2012.
A lot of people who follow the team would disagree with the staying away from the actual football part. He has been accused of meddling quite a bit, but it’s just not as public as other owners.
Lurie stays miles from the football? He probably meddles just as much if not more than Mara. They just win so he doesn't get shit for it.

Don't mess up the narrative with facts. A lot of people don't like that.

Hey Chris, it's been 25 yrs since I lived in the Philthy area, but from what I remember a lot of the local sports media people are team friendly fans; like a lot of Paul Dottino's. Do you think that has something to do with why Lurie's meddling isn't as public as it is with other owners?

I think that is a reasonable theory. Much of the local media are definitely jock sniffers.

jock sniffers, them's the words I was trying to think of!
Missanelli too.
