Steelers extend Mike Tomlin through 2027

3 more years on his deal. If the Giants are looking for a new head coach after the season, cross Tomlin off the list.

I also find it amazing

they've only had 3 head coaches since 1969.
Good man, good coach, good deal.

I look forward to him working with RW this year.
Being the Steelers head coach is a good gig.

Only the Pope and Supreme Court Justices have that level of job security.
Remember when there was speculation he might get fired?

That was funny.
17 years as Steelers coach

Has never had a losing record.

Not talked about enough, amazing accomplishment.

Especially since he's dealt with that crazy loon like Antonio Brown, and not only won games, but didn't let the situation ever really unravel. Won lots of games with Duck Hodges, Mason Rudolph, a washed Ben Roethlisberger. List goes on.

He's a tremendous coach!
Terrific Coach

Amazing winning record over 17 years. His players play real hard for him.
Good move for both the coach and the team

Been 2016 since they won a playoff game

Lots of 8-8/9-7 one and done type of seasons over the past decade.

Better than NYG but surprised they are satisfied with the results.
Congratulations

to Coach Tomlin. There is a lot to be said for organizational stability. From an outsider's perspective, the Steelers appear to be one of the NFL's flagship organizations. Looking forward to the Giants-Steelers Monday night match-up on October 28.

I disagree with this-if you can go that long without a losing record you're doing something right. Yes, they do need to win playoff games but when you look at the abyss some NFL teams are twisting through-he's done a remarkable job. To me, he would need to have multiple 4-5-6 win seasons to be in question.

...if the Steelers front office actually thought that Tomlin was going to get past Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen on the strength of guys like Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett then they need to fire themselves.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what gets talked about every time Tomlin's name is mentioned in almost any context. I'm not sure how much it would need to be discussed in order to be "enough," though I agree that it's a tremendous achievement.
Hes done a great job

getting wins out of that roster. I get why Steelers fans would be frustrated. They've seen Super Bowls, so topping out at 9 wins with no chance to beat a good team in the playoffs is not satisfying at all.

But that's not on Tomlin. His job is to win as much as possible in any given year and he does it very well.

There's a lot to be said for properly and dispassionately appraising your team and players and not running the team like fans. All that talk last season about firing Tomlin was idiotic. The Steelers are not morons.
One of the great NFL careers

He hasn't had any good QB play.

And saying its better than NYG is putting it mildly...
