I hope they make a run at Mason Miller in Oakland. Huge risk dealing Spencer Jones without knowing Soto’s future, but he can be our closer of the present and future. Locked in through 2030.

Big no to that.
Remember that hard throwing young guys break down. The Yanks tried to “win” on a trade for a reliever under contract for 5 years in Effross- look how that turned out.
Just get the one year rentals- relievers are an inconsistent bunch unless you are are named Mariano Rivera.

Have to agree with that. The way Yankees seem to resurrect careers of BP arms, one year rentals seems right.
Look at Tonkin. Scrap heap guy doing well. He might be the 4th or 5th guy in the pen, but he is getting outs.
but the A's are going to ask the farm for him. Unless they get an established big reliever for a reasonable price, I trust this staff/front office to find some guys. They're good at both finding guys and ditching the ones who don't work out. We'll get there.
Yankees have the best road record in MLB at 25-11.
Also we are jusssssst behind Philly for best overall record, .692 to .691.
But those dastardly Orioles are good and keep hanging in there. I like the players on that team and wish they were in another division so I could root for them.
Rodon has been great. Cole, Gil, Rodon and Stroman wil be tough in the playoffs. And Schmidt is in the wings.
Yup, moving some runners and timely hits, who knew they could do it so consistently.
Nice to see Tonkin close it out. He looks like a guy who sold a lot of used cars in the early 80s, but Matt Blake keeps taking guys off the scrap heap and turning them into effective relievers.
see the Yanks giving Clay a big FA contract, especially with Hal coming out and saying the payroll is not sustainable. There's obviously Juan Soto to deal with, and you have a few bigger contracts coming off the books (Gleyber, Verdugo, Rizzo, Clay). I think RP is a spot where they believe they can fill internally, or acquire a reclamation project for cheap, just like Clay.
Somewhere Greg is having a seizure.
...and now a base hit.
Against a guy 9-1 with a 2.29(or close) era
Very athletic play by DJLM just now.

Yeah but it’s still Seth Lugo. At some point he was going to wake up and remember that he actually sucks
4-1 good guys.
Nope.
Hopefully they hold on in the 9th, and steal one against a tough pitcher--at least this season--with their "B" lineup.

And (Gulf of) Tonkin closed it out ...
47-21.

Effross isn’t a hard thrower

People don’t care about wins/losses for starters anymore but that 9-2 record looks pretty sweet next to Rodon’s name.

An ERA of 3, too. And the Yanks haven't exactly had a cakewalk of a schedule, either.

He will get good money on the FA market. We are spoiled by Mo and expect perfection every night. His numbers are good but his WHIP is high at 1.23.
