Giants are holding the three receivers who were dinged yesterday. Also Daboll said Bellinger had something happen a few weeks ago and they’re being cautious with him.

Daboll says something happened a few weeks ago with Bellinger but he’s fine. He will be ready for camp.
That explains why Bellinger was on side yesterday.

Daboll said “something happened a few weeks ago” to TE Daniel Bellinger in explaining his reduced reps this spring. Daboll said he’s being cautious and Bellinger is fine.
Daboll said WR Darius Slayton won’t practice today. He’s still hopeful everyone will be ready for camp.

The PR clearly had the number 87. So either McKenzie was doing it, or there is some issue there which is why Asante changed his number.

Yes.
That being said, Cota's injury could be serious. Some may say "so what?" but filling up IR with guys who weren't going to make the team can have cumulative salary cap ramifications.
thats why we wont see teh major splash move unless schoen gets desperate.
i think prices will come down too.
so i dont think well see a 1 year7-8m signing.
We don't really have the money for a signing of that caliber anyway. Yes, the Giants do technically have enough cap space right now, but if you earmark $10M for in-season operating space, you're left with $2M and change, so any signing above that will likely trigger a restructure elsewhere (if not immediately, eventually).
Unfortunately for the Giants, the easiest contract for them to tap for space this year is also probably one that they'd like to avoid touching unless/until all other avenues to cap space are exhausted. For that reason, I expect the Giants to avoid putting themselves at greater risk to need that contract's available balance, and a FA signing in the $7-8M range would definitely increase that risk. I think they'd prefer to stay under $4M (and probably closer to $3M) for any late new additions.

Brief, light practice to wrap minicamp. Vets Andrew Thomas, Dexter Lawrence, Bobby Okereke and Brian Burns got the day off from team drills.
@PLeonardNYDN
An extremely light 2nd and final #Giants minicamp practice just wrapped up here in East Rutherford. Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Andrew Thomas, Bobby Okereke and Azeez Ojulari didn’t do any team work. The receivers who got hurt yesterday, including Darius Slayton, didn’t practice. Training camp next in late July

#NYGiants Eleumunor - guard is one of the spots they needed....he started at LG at start of his pro career...just wants to be out there

#NYGiants Eleumunor - says it is a terrific OL room...one big family and having a lot of fun with them
#NYGiants Eleumunor - not important what position he plays but would rather just stay at LG, now that it is where he's been working...says confidence in going vs this defensive front is key in how you react after they win a battle
#NYGiants Eleumunor - practiced at multiple positions with raiders even though they played him at RT
#NYGiants Eleumunor - strugglwd with confidence early in his career.....thought his career was over 2 yrs ago but then he got to practice vs raiders maxx crosby and it helped him become the player he wants to be...says he has more upside
#NYGiants Eleumunor - helping neal to gain confidence because he knows the kind of RT he can be

Jermaine Eluemunor said he doesn’t care if he plays guard or tackle, he just wants to start. Eluemunor said he is focusing solely on LG now since that’s where the team put him. He said he has confidence in Evan Neal at RT.

CB Tre Herndon, a tryout for the #NYGiants here at minicamp, made a nice play on a deflected Tommy DeVito pass popped in air by Darrian Beavers, taking it to the house with the rest of the defense chasing him to party in the end zone.
Won't be surprised if Herndon gets a deal.

The Giants are signing veteran CB Tre Herndon, per agents
@davidcanter
and
@NessMugrabi
. A quality vet added to the mix after he had an interception for a TD at today's minicamp practice.
Herndon has played in 83 career games with 34 starts.
You might want to double check your facts. Jon Runyan jr has played almost equal snaps at LG and RG. He has more snaps at RG and that is where he has been playing the last year and a half where he has over 1600 snaps.
Jermaine Eluemunor is the only one going to a new position as he played LT and RT last year, but he has played under Carmen Bricillo for most of his career. He also has experience playing guard.

The easiest contract to adjust is Andrew Thomas. His salary is already fully guaranteed for the next 3 years and his salary is basically flat and he has no bonus money tied to the last 2 years of his deal yet. Convert salary to bonus push it over 5 years can easily add 12 - 14 mil to the cap space.
I would argue they should do it anyway. create the space now( or likely at the end of camp) to cover incidentals throughout the season and if you don't need it then you carry it over to next year when it can take some of the sting away from the dead money that will be owed to Jones
Again, just my opinion/guess/hunch, don't yell at me!

STC Michael Ghobrial said the new kickoff return will have more elements of an offensive run play. The space and hang time aren’t there to get creative with the blocking.
I can’t question Ghobrial’s abilities or credentials, but if I am running the Giants, I would think seriously about hiring a special assistant who has coached under the new Kickoff rules to help out.I don’t want to watch preseason and 4-5 games before they figure out the new rule strategy.
Is McCloud on his way to being purely - or at least primarily - a safety?

Is McCloud on his way to being purely - or at least primarily - a safety?
At least the Giants appear to have a Plan A and a Plan B for Neal. Apparently, if Eluemunor has to move to RT, Stinnie at LG and Runyan at RG is better than the reverse. Also, if Neal does have to move to guard, the consensus is that he should be at LG although I don’t know why except that LG is where he played at Alabama.
Quote:
That the Giants put Eluemunor at LG and Runyan at RG despite the fact that both have played mostly on the opposite side their entire career.
I think it's because Runyan is being handed the starting right guard job whereas Eluemunor will be competing for the left guard and right tackle spots. That's my best guess. I think they still love Ezeudu (every bit as much as they still love Neal) and want him to win the left guard job with Eluemunor as the top backup at several spots along the line. This is just my guess. And I think for the OTA's they didn't like the optics of the beat reporters seeing Eluemunor at right tackle with Neal out, so they had him working with the #1's at left guard and put Ezeudu at left tackle and right tackle.
Again, just my opinion/guess/hunch, don't yell at me!
Milton, I think you are right about the optics. Having Eluemunor start to practice at RT could be interpreted as the Giants panicking about Neal and his recovery. Put that off for 6 weeks. Eluemunor is experienced and has shown to be able to handle any changes pretty easily.

think it’s supposed to read “multiplicity”
Last year, he finally got some significant playing time as a starter beginning Week 8, when the guy ahead of him went down.
After watching him play, Tampa had no apparent interest in bringing him back, and he signed with the Giants for not much more than minimum.
Not your typical 30 yo vet OL. And not in a comforting way.

Stinnie fills a need for vet guard but at 30 years old, he can be replaced easily if he falters.So who his backup may be in late August could be very important.
