#NYGiants "backed off" Evan Neal as recovery from ankle surgery continues, per Brian Daboll. If this lingers into training camp, think you'll eventually see Jermaine Eluemunor move back to RT + Aaron Stinnie step in at LG.
Don't think NYG are there yet. Give it 6 more weeks.
@art_stapleton
I don't believe Giants would be concerned with Eluemunor and his ability to bounce outside from LG at a moment's notice, nor should they be. Stinnie has starts in this league at LG, plus a handful of young guard options (Kubas, McKethan, Ezeudu) if the Neal plan at RT does not materialize.
This will become a significant storyline in August if Neal is still unable to stay on the field. I don't think we're there yet.
And we're not even talking about improving his play, which must happen, too.
Yes.
That being said, Cota's injury could be serious. Some may say "so what?" but filling up IR with guys who weren't going to make the team can have cumulative salary cap ramifications.

This seems like way too much of a hypothetical.

thats why we wont see teh major splash move unless schoen gets desperate.
i think prices will come down too.
so i dont think well see a 1 year7-8m signing.

They've said this sort of thing before. What we're going to see is that everyone may be in attendance, but some people will be limited. He never said the words "full go". Here are the snippets:
"I think we should have everybody ready to go for training camp, which is important."
"So we're going to be smart with a few people. Then hopefully once training camp, July 24th, hits, unless something happens between now and then, hopefully we'll have everybody."
"Again, that's the plan. Whether that comes to fruition or not, that's what I'm expecting, for everybody to be out here."
There will absolutely be players who will be limited at the start of camp.
Hopefully the young center can step up and hopefully the Runyan signing proves to be ALOT better than Glowinski, same goes with Eluemunor and dear God hopefully AT stays healthy… a lot of hopefully, yet again
Injury updates from yesterday, per sources:
• WR Chase Cota: Broken collarbone
• WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton: Sprained shoulder
• CB Tre Hawkins: Illness
On the bright side for Cota, if you’re going to break your collarbone, the day before a six-week break is the best timing possible.
@PLeonardNYDN
Evan Neal is simply following the rehab recommendations of the surgeon who operated on the fracture in his left foot late last season, the Daily News was told Tuesday. But the former No. 7 overall pick’s distance from the team during practice recently has stood out. Why it’s a must to continue monitoring this key player as #Giants camp nears in late July
@DDuggan21
Today is the Giants' second and final minicamp practice before a six-week break until training camp. Interested to see if they need to limit their team periods today due to the injury situation at WR.
Gunner Olszewski (ankle) is out and Isaiah McKenzie (?) hasn't participated all spring. Chase Cota (collarbone), Bryce Ford-Wheaton (shoulder) and Darius Slayton (?) left practice yesterday. Cota and Ford-Wheaton won't practice today, not sure about Slayton.
That could leave them with just nine healthy WR. Last thing they need is a starting WR to pull a hamstring in the last practice of the spring because he's taking extra reps.

#NYGiants Ghobrial on KOR - hangtime is key...so we will see lower hang time and that could lrad tonusimg two return guys to cover more ground .... and there is less space to execute blocking achemes, so it may look more like a run play
#NYGiants Ghobrial - look at it as the kickoff is the first defensive play in a series

Kafka has always seemed so milquetoast to me and I've wondered how his personality plays during HC interviews. With the play-calling being taken away from him, I wonder how much this is going to hurt him.

Assistant HC and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka talked about not calling plays this spring. He’s says his role is to be “complimentary to (Daboll).” Kafka has been getting feedback from players after plays and provides input in meetings.

The PR clearly had the number 87. So either McKenzie was doing it, or there is some issue there which is why Asante changed his number.

so i dont think well see a 1 year7-8m signing.
We don't really have the money for a signing of that caliber anyway. Yes, the Giants do technically have enough cap space right now, but if you earmark $10M for in-season operating space, you're left with $2M and change, so any signing above that will likely trigger a restructure elsewhere (if not immediately, eventually).
Unfortunately for the Giants, the easiest contract for them to tap for space this year is also probably one that they'd like to avoid touching unless/until all other avenues to cap space are exhausted. For that reason, I expect the Giants to avoid putting themselves at greater risk to need that contract's available balance, and a FA signing in the $7-8M range would definitely increase that risk. I think they'd prefer to stay under $4M (and probably closer to $3M) for any late new additions.
