-He attended other voluntary offseason programs prior to Mini Camp (which is of course mandatory).
-From what I read per the CBA you cannot excuse an absence from mini vamp, hence the designation. Doesn't mean the team doesn't approve or doesn't know about it.
-Jets coaches and PR downplaying that they were aware he'd be out for the 3 day mini camp for a prior commitment (as stupid as it is).
My own thoughts - This really isn't a big deal on the surface imo..although optics are bad. I do think your thread is a bit clickbaity without understanding exactly what we are talking about here. Anyways, it's the jets so F em lol

Blowing off mandatory OTAs for an unspecified reason not a story. It’s a huge story. He’s the face of the franchise. He’s made a big deal team unity. He’s thumbing his nose at his coach. Yikes.
He advised the team he would be missing the two days and would accept the fine.
Short of him giving an understandable reason for it, it's a story.
I'd say it's a bit of a story (not the end of the world) because he made it a point to talk about how the Jets have to "get everything out of the building that isn't about winning", and then he misses the first mandatory events on the calendar.

He did give a reason for it. The Jets and he simply haven't made that specific reason public. Unless you think Saleh really is in the dark and is simply covering for Rodgers for the sake of downplaying it (which I admit, I don't think is what's going on, but doesn't seem totally outside the realm of possibility), it is indeed a manufactured story.
you can say it's a story and will it into being a story, but the only people who matter what they think are in the Jets organization.
“Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started,” Saleh said. “He's been very good with communication. He's been here the entire time. It's inexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him — which he communicated.”
“He had something that was very important to him,” Saleh said on Tuesday, “and if it’s important to him, it’s important to us.”
“It’s more an issue for everyone outside of the building than inside,” Saleh said on Wednesday.
Not many of his teammates have spoken about it publicly, but running back Breece Hall didn’t seem too perturbed: “I know he’s working his tail off, he’s still trying to come back, still getting back to feeling right from his injury. I know he’s working his tail off. Whether he’s here or not I know he’s all in.”
"On Wednesday, Jets cornerback D.J. Reed was asked about Rodgers’ absence and how it affected the locker room.
“Honestly, bro, AR [Rodgers] has been here for the majority of OTAs,” Reed said. “He has been here before I was here. I think he was here the first day, Phase 1, Phase 2. He has been here for the majority of practices that weren’t mandatory.
“I think I seen something that Saleh said that AR had something important he had to attend and that’s our quarterback. If it’s important to him, it’s important to us. It’s really not a big deal.”
even if this is just public spin, you still can't make it a bigger story than what happens in that facility and the minds of those players. Even wishing it into a story can't make it one.
which is being reported as a trip overseas. Rodgers knew when mini camp was scheduled, why book the trip at the same time? I both think it’s not that big of a deal, but is also definitely newsworthy. I mean, after the season ended, Rodgers himself said that everyone had to get “anything that didn’t involve winning out of the building.”
I would argue that the distraction involved with him missing camp doesn’t exactly scream a commitment to winning. That said, at the end of the day, he missed a 2-day camp. It won’t impact how the Jets fare this season.
RE: Possible reasons for Aaron Rodgers skipping OTAs:
Of 2 days and will not be there for the rest of the week
Jets reported it as unexcused... Don't know what makes that fake news???
Come on SFGF... let the Jets fans continue to be obsessed.

Reddick is definitely the bigger story

Rogers attended ALL of the OTAs, except for 2 days. He didn't "skip all OTAs". Pretty clear this is fake news.
