NGT - Colorado Buffaloes leave program over Lil Wayne Concer

JT039 : 6/14/2024 10:25 pm
This is one of the weirder things I’ve seen and it looks for bad for Deion. Not sure anything can be done by it - but I am not sure Prime Time is long for coaching…
Players transfer cause they were forced to watch Shadeur - ( New Window )
Deion is a clown.
BigBlueBuff : 6/14/2024 11:04 pm : link
As a CU (and FSU, ironically) alumnus, I can’t wait until he’s gone.
The circus that will be following that kid in the pros
UConn4523 : 6/14/2024 11:07 pm : link
buckle up whoever signs up for that

+1 Hire a clown expect a circus. I wonder if the president of CU will ever step in pull the plug on this nonsense?
Shadeur Sanders would be off my board

Way too much noise at the most important position in the NFL.
kind of a shit article

Sanders reportedly also threatened to dismiss anyone who didn't attend the concert, though the report didn't specify if the "mandatory" directive was because of Shedeur Sanders being part of the opening act, or because Sanders wanted to ensure that Lil Wayne played to a packed house.

even if you assume both scenarios for a player to quit because their coach to them to attend a concert, or being ordered to support their QB, for them to respond by quitting the program seems an extreme reaction on the players part. snowflakes maybe?
transferring over one incident makes no sense,

they must’ve already been unhappy about other things

Most likely this would the final straw for some of these kids as these kids want to play football, not be part of Deion's circus.

It’s more likely that this was one of a bunch of other ridiculous things and enough was enough. If this story is true and Deion did make them go, do you really think this was the only instance of him acting like a clown? What other respected coach would run his program this way?

I really liked the spark Deion brought to college football but it sounds like it’s gone way overboard. Don’t see how this ends well.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 6/15/2024 9:02 am : link
I suspect the highlight of Deion's time in Boulder will be his win vs. TCU.

Or they don’t want to play on a team that is all about the coach’s son and his opportunities and not about the team and winning?

Odd place to go with that comment.

I have no doubt Deion told Lil Wayne
Mike from Ohio : 6/15/2024 9:19 am : link
If he had Shedeur open for him, the place would be packed. That didn’t happen so attendance became mandatory to try and do that.

I think Deion only remembers how last season started, not how it ended. His 15 minutes as the football world’s greatest coach may be about up.

It's more likely just the latest incident in a weird culture that seems to put his son on a pedestal above the team. If you're serious about college ball and maybe getting to the next level, why stick around that shit when its easier than ever to transfer and get paid elsewhere?

It's a clown show, not a division I football program.
So, if all signs point to he is only in it for his son

Where will that leave CU once his son graduates?

I still think they're snowflakes

a) every team has a few transfers once a new coach arrives, but somehow it's a bigger deal because it's Deon. meh

b) when I played, we were taught you support the QB no matter what. Players should have wanted to go see him perform and getting ordered by your coach should be more embarrassing to the player then a reason to quit.

c) fine not everyone might like Lil Wayne but if that's the straw, they already two feet out the door.
I bet if Deion told them to jump off a bridge
UConn4523 : 6/15/2024 1:11 pm : link
They’d have to do that too, huh? Sanders is setting up his post college career to play, rap and whatever else - are his teammates supposed to devote all their time to his schedule?

There are thresholds for everything in life, sports included. If you played them than you should know that. Deion and his son likely crossed it many times.

Lmao, this is ridiculous on so many levels. Terrible take. And then a "snowflake" reference also as a cherry on top.

dated maybe but not terrible. when we played we were told more than once it was God/Family/school/football. So the "other things in life" weren't a consideration. There was once a time.
And what if Deion was pulling them away from those things

Non scholarship athlete who wanted to go to grad school for law or medicine or anything have important exams and finals coming up and was told he had to attend this concert or else?

lol. Wanna bet Deion and Shadeur would be totally confused by this?

no, its a terrible fucking take.
So, if you’re fed up already and the last straw
bwitz : 6/16/2024 1:17 pm : link
is the head coach demanding you be at a concert to support his son’s rap career, you’re a snowflake?

JFC the idiocy on this board is astounding.
Talk about a non-story.
Matt M. : 6/16/2024 1:46 pm : link
This didn't even just take place. And if they left over being told they had to attend a concert, they didn't leave over the convert.

With a father known as "Prime" I suspect that both son's have a ton of pressure on them. I hope they get to live their own lives and not a rubber stamp of their Dad.
