We’re on vacation in Sarasota and decided to do a day trip to Marco Island. I’ve heard great things but know nothing about it. Anybody have food and activity recommendations fit for an 11 & 8 year old? My wife found a restaurant called The Oyster Society that looks good.
She also found a boat tour that looks for dolphins, manatees and shelling and takes you to an uninhabited island. That looks great for my kids and it’s 2.5 hours.
Anybody have other suggestions?
The Snook Inn is a good restaurant, with good atmosphere.
Tiger Tail beach is a cool beach not too crowded, haven't been there in a few years and heard it's getting more popular.
Take a quick drive to Everglade City and take an Air boat tour.
I recommend stopping in Punta Gorda on the drive down and visiting the replica Vietnam Memorial Wall. It's not too far out of the way. There is also a cool war museum in the area.
The Speakeasy at Marco has outdoor seating and a tiki hut bar area as well - their food is really consistent
The Dolphin Tiki is an awesome place but is small and usually packed but is right on the water
Tiger tail is awesome - you can actually wade through the inlet bay and get right to the end of the beach.
Sure, what do you have? Just got back from Ophelia’s and we did lunch at Crab & Fin in St. Armand’s. We don’t have much else planned other than trying to hit Three Bridges Brewery and maybe fitting in pizza for my son (although I keep telling him he should wait until we’re back in CT.
We just booked this, thanks!

but let me know if you need restaurant recommendations in the Sarasota area. I'm on Longboat Key.

For pizza in Sarasota, Il Pacifico is pretty good (for not being in the NY area, of course). The pizza at Ventura's on Longboat Key is good. Other restaurants I like in Sarasota are Pho Cali, Mediterraneo, and Selva Grill on Main St.
Check out the Marco Pedal Boat sunset cruise - kids would enjoy
Restaurants: Oyster Society, great food, but go during happy hour 4:30-6, save a fortune, Snook nice outside searing on water, Tiger Tail is a long walk, might be better off going to South Beach, there's parking down the street, and is offseason. Plan around the rain and rent a pontoon or take a boat shuttle to Keewaydin Island - always a highlight..can also check out Isle of Capri - Island Gypsey for waterside casual dining...happy hours are big everywhere, take advantange of them
