The organ music by Hans Zimmer for Interstellar, especially the spinning docking sequence by Cooper (McConaughey) after Mann (Matt Damon) fails at docking his craft and causes and uncontrolled spin of the main ship.
"Come on Tars!!!"
John Williams has been a staple for me for as long as I can remember,
Zimmer is an acquired taste (more Pearl Harbor, not Batman v. Superman). And then there's Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings), Jerry Goldsmith (per the OP, also like Goldsmith's score for The Mummy (1999)), and James Horner (Apollo 13 and The Mask of Zorro are my favorites. from Remember the Titans. Been used as background music on many occasions including several closing ceremonies at the Olympics as well as the last game tribute at Shea Stadium. He has become quite prodigious in the movies. First took notice when he did his stint with Yes.
To name some
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows
He does a lot of Wes Anderson movies
Also Imitation Game,Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,The Kings Speech.
soundtrack is my favorite - composed, orchestrated, conducted and produced by Ennio Moricone. Morricone also did the music for all those spaghetti westerns and a host of other movies thru the years.
Arrival - On the Nature of Daylight - Max Richter (which I guess disqualified the composer of the score, Johan Johannsson, from Academy Award contention since it wasnt original for the movie)
Oh, and anything by 2 Steps From Hell (Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix). "Invincible", "Archangel", "BattleCry", "Unleashed', "Sun" and "Illusions" are amazing
The Magnificent Seven, Never on Sunday and second The Last of the

Good choice. Danny Elfman has been strong with Batman and Edward Scissorhands.
On the Hans Zimmer resume, The Thin Red Line and Inception are phenomenal.

Lots of good stuff by him.
Great call..
Another one I bet is unerrated:
Oblivion (Tom Cruise movie)... fantastic score
Kamen's 'Band of Brothers', and also the work he did on 'From the Earth to the Moon'.
Special mention 'Battlestar Galactica', Bear McCreary
I am really enjoying 'Masters of the Air' by Black Neely lately.
'Stealing the Enterprise' track from STIII is on my favorites list.
I could never study to music with lyrics so my sountrack collection became massive early on.
Last of Mohicans - Promentory - Trevor Jones
Arrival - On the Nature of Daylight - Max Richter (which I guess disqualified the composer of the score, Johan Johannsson, from Academy Award contention since it wasnt original for the movie)
Oblivion - Waking Up - M83
