Daboll 40 time -- Do you think he could break 7 seconds?

Lafferty, Daniel : 7/10/2024 3:15 pm
For comparisons sake - Rich Eisen has averaged about 6 secs over the past 18 years when he runs it at the combine.

Eisen is 6' tall and a bit more slender than Dabes.
Daboll measures in at 5'10", portly with short legs.
Eisen however, has never had the plate of wings at the finish line incentive that Dabes requested.

I tend to agree with the Giants brain trust that Coach Daboll would NOT break 7 seconds, but I think it really depends on how hungry coach is when he runs it.

Rich Eisen runs the 40 - ( New Window )
Makes me wonder if this was the catalyst to Daboll's weight loss

Maybe he gave it a go and found out he couldn't?
To answer your question . . .

Yes. I believe in Daboll.
I really can't wait

I'd just hope that Daboll would not have a stroke

if he tried to run a 40.
No Way

I think a calendar is a better reference for Daboll's 40 time.

When Dabes made the comment?
Biteymax22 : 7/10/2024 3:50 pm : link
No.

At the weight he is now, yes.
Doesn't Rich also usually run it in a suit, tie and

dress shoes?

Not looking good for Dabes.
Rich should

In the video he has turf shoes. But yeah suit and tie... lol. The overlays they do with him and players is pretty interesting (and funny). It's pretty cool that he does it actually, IMO.
Yes, Eisen normally runs in a suit but will wear cleats/turf shoes...
Lafferty, Daniel : 7/10/2024 4:11 pm : link
In Daboll's case I believe he would be wearing turf shoes and a spandex outfit similar to that which the athletes at the combine wear.
He will need every advantage he can get to break 7 secs - and that would make him more aerodynamic.
not a chance in hell

.
I want him to run it vs Nabers
RCPhoenix : 7/10/2024 4:59 pm : link
And Daboll can start from the 20.

The banter about sprinting against Worthy was hilarious.
Absolutely

He played college safety for a good team. D-III, but he still played. Even with some extra pounds he’s got to have some wheels left.
He could,

It's harder than it looks

I run as a hobby, consistently 3x a week for 12 years. My son was interested in timing us in the 40. I realized I was an idiot thinking I could beat "slow" guys like Eli or Brady.

I agree breaking 5 seconds would be challenging. 7 should be very easy for someone with an athletic background.
Pretty sure
jtfuoco : 7/10/2024 8:14 pm : link
He ran 4.9 in college he would have to get a few practice sprints in but he ahould easily run in the 6 second range

Seriously. Between this and the "What if?" alternate reality mock draft thread...
I think
Amtoft : 7/10/2024 10:04 pm : link
if he didn't hit under 7 seconds it would be close. A friend of mine who is not an athlete, stood straight up on start, and weighs about 350 ran a 7:48 for fun.

The best line was Worthy at the start and me at the 20 who wins and they were like Worthy smokes you. How far would I have to be to beat him... the 35! hahaha
Daboll could easily do it once,
gridirony : 7/11/2024 6:25 am : link
if the 40 was running down the side of a 120 foot tall building.
This is easily the most important question coming into the season
Bramton1 : 7/11/2024 11:27 pm : link
Can Daniel Jones rebound?
Can the offensive line function as a cohesive unit?
How will the defensive back field work out?

All of these need to be answered but, but nothing as urgent as this: Can Daboll run a 7 second 40?
In Hard Knocks Daboll asked if he could beat Worthy in a 40 yd dash
PatersonPlank : 7/12/2024 2:05 pm : link
if he started at the 20. He was told no, hahah. Then he said well maybe the 35?
Not even sure
bc4life : 7/12/2024 4:07 pm : link
