NGT: Fantasy Football Keeper Question

nyjuggernaut2 : 7/12/2024 9:13 am
I have to declare my keeper for the upcoming season by Friday, and am struggling between keeping CeeDee Lamb (1st rnd) or James Cook (6th rnd). I have the 9th pick so I'd be getting Lamb at pick 9. Any advice...
Definitely cook
UConn4523 : 7/12/2024 9:25 am : link
1600 yards 45 catches and 6TDs is going to be tough to find that late in the draft and he has room to grow.
Yeah Uconn
pjcas18 : 7/12/2024 9:32 am : link
has it, you could probably keep Cook and re-draft Lamb if you want at 9 or someone comparable.
Definitely Cook but are you sure you can draft Lamb at 9?
DCGMan : 7/12/2024 10:15 am : link
How many opponents are taking keepers with their first pick? Lamb is 2 or 3 overall in most non-PPR and PPR rankings.
Lamb is a top 5 lock - and likely higher in this keeper because
Young Elijah : 7/12/2024 10:28 am : link
the top guys may be kept.

I think your format and # of teams matters most here. If its a 3 WR league your WAR to keep Lamb will actually be higher than Cook compared to the RB you can get in the 6th. If its a 10 Team league Stevenson and Connors are going in the 60s.

I would probably still keep Cook and hope I get a Puka or someone similar at 9.

But then you have to ask yourself if Puka + Cook is better than Lamb + Connors...I dont think it is, Lamb has an unlimted ceiling in an offense with no RB.
Cook in the 6th

is a steal
wow
pjcas18 : 7/12/2024 11:05 am : link
I just looked at rankings for 2024, and Lamb is #2 after CmC in PPR.

So, yeah, you definitely can't re-draft him at 9 - unless 1-8 are all keeping 1st round picks.

But you may be able to get AJ Brown, Puka as mentioned, or Garret Wilson.

I don't see Connor being available in the 6th round though in a keeper league. His ADP is 81, so possible, but not something I'd bank on.

And I also am not sure Lamb/Connor (if you wound up that way) is better than AJ Brown/Cook (ADP 41)

your league's roster construction?

PPR?
My keeper question
davek3698 : 7/12/2024 11:07 am : link
I have several to consider as a 3rd and 4th round keepers. 10 team, .5ppr league. J Gibbs, S LaPorta, L Jackson, J Cook, A Cooper and D Montgomery.
Being advised to use my 3rd on Gibbs, though I imagine it will still be a shared carries situation in Detroit. Thinking about Gibbs and Cook and then focus on WRs with my first two picks. LaPorta may be TE1, but I don’t see that much point difference between others I can take later. Jackson is tempting though.
I think you take Cook and here is why...
DefenseWins : 7/12/2024 12:09 pm : link
In most drafts, players slip down in the first round. So, although you may not get CD, you still may get a great player with the 9th pick. You could also get Breece and Rodgers LOVES to dump the ball off to the back.
be careful
djm : 7/12/2024 3:22 pm : link
you don't win leagues with good players like Cook. You win on greatness like Lamb. While you need players like Cook you ain't winning shit without a great WR or two.

I take it you sacrifice the pick you drafted that player in so if you keep Lamb you lose that first rounder?
I see the value in getting Cook in exchange for a much

later round pick; however, I'm with djm that getting a game changer like Ceedee Lamb at #9 (when he's been projected to go in the top 3 in most league format) is pretty hard to pass up. Cook is projected to go somewhere in rounds 3-4, so the value isn't nearly as good as you may assume if you have to trade away a 6th round pick. So I would keep Lamb.

I also have Cook as one of my keepers, but my league is a SuperFlex league, so QBs are at a premium. And despite Cook being available for 8th round pick, I also have Kyler Murray available for 9th round pick. I'm going with Murray on my end with the addition of MHJ and Murray being another year removed from his injury.

Kyler will be a top 5 qb this year if he stays healthy. Easy pick for the 9th round in superflex
Let me piggyback on here and see what people think I should

do with horrendous keeper options.

Can keep 2 players, can only keep players drafted after the 3rd round. Year 1 you can keep them for their original draft round, year 2 if you want them again for a 4th and that's it - can only keep twice.

I dealt some good keeper options at the deadline for some roster help so my pickings are slim.

And i don't have to keep 2 players, I don't have to keep any or can keep 1.

My best options.

Roschon Johnson (16th round) kind of a no-brainer even with Swift just because it's 16th round, but not counting on him for much.

Rashee Rice (12th round) this would have been a no-brainer, but he's got a suspension looming (pretty sure) and KC added a good WR depth at the draft/FA with Worthy and Hollywood.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (6th round)

Kyler Murray (8th round)

Amari Cooper (4th round)

George Pickens (4th round)

Javonte Williams (5th round)

Jalin Hyatt (14th round)

Michael Mayer (14th round)

Jonathan Mingo (8th round)

Thinking Roschon and Rice (but I do have an out for injury or suspension prior to our draft) and can adjust, but what do others think of this shit show?
I'd probably
JayBinQueens : 7/13/2024 11:42 am : link
Do Kyler and Rice, especially if you have the suspension out.

I'm high on Kyler this year

I like Kyler too, he's definitely a consideration, I think I may be able to re-draft him in a spot not far from his ADP. I have 2 extra 5th round picks.

So I have 7 picks in the top 60. His ADP is 72, so late 6th/early 7th, but that is not considering keeper leagues with 24 possible keepers, so 5th wouldn't be crazy for him in my league.

One guy in my league is keeping Puka in the 16th and Achane in the 15th. it's nice when you can start out that way. lol, I cannot.

Damn. That's a great start. Almost all the pressure to not mess it up

Kyler and Pickens for me
I want to keep Pickens
pjcas18 : 7/14/2024 9:46 am : link
or Amari Cooper and either would cost a 4th round pick, the problem is their ADP is later than 48 (or 47 in the case of Cooper) making them a 4th round keeper bad business. Obviously since it is a keeper league ADP should be adjusted somewhat, but I feel like both Pickens and Cooper can be re-drafted close to or later than where I'd keep them.

I know, I have shitty options, lol - and I don't have to keep 2 players. But Pickens is definitely someone I'm considering even if it's bad business b/c with Wilson (or Fields?) I expect him to be more productive than the garbage he had last year.
