In a largely unprecedented financial concession to give roster flexibility to a contender, New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has agreed on a four-year, $156.5 million extension, his agent Sam Rose of CAA tells ESPN --- $113M less guaranteed than he’s eligible to receive in one…
Fans are gonna love this guy. Buy stock now.
I believe I read that team brass feel like he's good for 9-12 a night.
As he should be, given his age and seasoning.

it's going to be tough to keep Kolek out of a rotation that is dying for a playmaker behind Brunson.

So if Brunson plays 36 (as he should) and Kolek plays 12 (as he should) I’m not sure how Deuce plays with DVo and Bridges here.
Also, Knicks lose by 4 but Kolek +9 yesterday.

The Deuce minutes problem seems like the same problem they had last yesr with Quick..
I do see Hart or Divo closing with Randle playing the 5 a lot of nights, but the minutes for adeuce are going to be scarce

Nope Dan is #MalikMonkNBAMVP
Dan it took like 5 seasons but your Monk patience paid off. Sac unlocked his inner beast.
Wasn't looking so good for Monk for a while there lol
I still like Duren for Deuce and the Det pick back

Also saw some defense clips of Pacome Dadiet as he was facing last year's 2nd overall pick Brandon Miller. As pointed out above, he actually did a lot of nice things as Miller had to work for his points. I like the pick even more now.
I'm confident that Texan U. could buy the city of Ludwigsburg with its spare NIL change but your point is well taken.
Lol@ that proposal from GS. If Markannen truly is available there are numerous teams that could blow that offer out of the water. They are dealing with Danny Ainge here. He’s not trading Markkanen unless he curb stomps the other team on the return
moody and a bunch of picks/swaps that add up to lets say 1-2 less unprotected firsts than Bridges seems about right to me.
getting players like podz or kuminga seems crazy for a guy entering his walk year. those are quality 21 year old starters on rookie deals. i cant think of many players who fit that description who have been traded in any of the big super star trades the last half decade. basically just SGA, and that was for PG3 of a 1st team all nba season with i think 3 years left.
I don’t think that deal is too far off, depending on what the picks are. Asking for both Kuminga and Podziemski is too much, but a deal with one of them, Moody and picks seems about right.
@TheStrickland
Ryan Arcidiacono will "wind up back with the Knicks at some point," says Tim Bontemps on ESPN's Hoop Collective Podcast
Arcidiacono played with Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo at Villanova.

I am so fascinated what happens with Julius. It feels like the elephant in the room. Why are we hearing this about Mikal but not Julius who is extension eligible sooner?

I view any player doing this as a gift. There shouldnt be any pressure on guys to do this. Didnt he already take less than he could have once already?

Aigust 3rd is his extension date, will be interesting to see if he takes it has to know if he doesnt it most likely means he will be dealt by the deadline unoess this team is absolutely rolling

Randle is a totally different situation than Brunson & Bridges. We know those 2 are probably here for at least the next 3 or 4 seasons so it's important to keep their salaries down. Randle on the other hand could be moved in the next year or so in a star trade so it may actually help us to have his salary be higher to match in a trade.
just like bridges deal if there are enough picks in the deal sure you can. markkanen is a nice 1 time all star, he isnt a first team all nba player. and he has a say in where he goes because he needs to agree to extend or else teams may not even give up their 3rd best prospect.

But if you’re going to be trading for an All star you can’t include your third best prospect as the best player.

Do the Warriors have anywhere in the vicinity of the picks had in upcoming seasons? I honestly don’t know, not trying to be sarcastic. Because if not, adding a bunch of picks that won’t convey until Ainge is long gone probably isn’t all that appealing to him. And the pick swaps won’t be that special either since you’d think the Jazz will be worse than the Warriors for the foreseeable future

I think it's only 3 - 2025, 2027 and a 2030 pick (if it falls in the to 20, otherwise converts to a 2nd) + swaps
and it looks like the 2030 pick they owe may not even convey, it's top 20 protected and if it doesnt convey it turns into a 2nd. so i believe they could trade that as a conditional pick swap if it ends up top 20.
moody probably has the value of a FRP. that seems like enough draft assets to get close though if SAS is motivated they could probably beat it.

See, that’s the difference in what the Knicks gave up and what the Warriors can. Those picks don’t seem all that appealing to me, but what do I know. Just feels like many teams can blow that offer out of the water. I would take them probably agreeing to an extension beforehand, maybe, but that proposal just sucks, imo
they are in the west which is a much tougher conference.
steph is 36 years old.
draymond is 34.
they lost klay.
the 2025/2026 drafts both look really good, and their picks could be mid round right away.
and the real value is their unprotected picks/swaps in 27/28/29/30/31 when Curry is likely done.
Randle, Brunson, Bridges, and OG are all almost a decade younger than Curry. In an easier conference. Those GSW picks are a lot more valuable. They are probably even more valuable than SAS picks in a couple years when Wemby starts getting close to prime, though i think the Spurs have the Atlanta picks too so if motivated they could build a better offer.

I think you’re the insane one. The Warriors with Markannen are not ending up 14th in the draft, they are an absolute playoff team. And they will continue to sell out while Curry is around. Nobody cares about a pick in 2030, lol. Neither of these GMs are likely to even be there by then
you realize gsw won 46 games last year and that was only good for 10th in the west right? and that was with steph playing 70 or more games for the first time since 2016-17.
even assuming markannen, which season in the next 6 would you expect GSW to win more games than the knicks? in 2031 brunson will still be younger than steph is now.
I think the Knicks signing Payne makes it more likely that Deuce is used in a trade for a big. Payne and Kolek are pretty good depth.
Now if there is a trade where Divo goes back to the starting 2 that is a different story

Look, idk what the Knicks do next. What I do know is a backcourt that already had nice depth now has another rotation player. And considering the current lack of depth at the center position, it’s easy to see the Knicks now consolidating and/or balancing out their team via trade
Now Rose has shown that he is willing to wait to see how things shake out and then make a move to fix it, like he did with Cam Reddish and then last year eith Quick and Rj
Now if there is a trade where Divo goes back to the starting 2 that is a different story
Would've preferred Jones as he's the better and younger player, but Payne at least adds a bit more size.
That jumper is fugly though. Shawn Marion-esque.
Seems like a fair trade, but how much of an upgrade (if at all) is Deuce over Sasser?

I think a decent one. Sasser just came off a summer league game where he scored 1 point in 30 minutes. A 3 man rotation of Cade, Deuce and Ivey could be interesting.
He’s a veteran point guard with playoff experience who can step in and play competently if needed. He’s the 10th or 11th guy on the team. If this signing annoys you beyond belief then you probably could use some help.
He literally just went 8-18 from 3 against the Knicks in a playoff series and signed the smallest possible contract he could sign. I don’t get the angst.
