NFT: Wimbledon Final: Alcaraz vs. Djokovic

Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/14/2024 10:09 am
Rematch of last years final. Djokovic trying to tie Federer for most Wimbledons. Alcaraz going for the Channel Slam at 21.
Things can turnon a dime

but Djokovic is getting his ass kicked. Does not look himself but Alcaraz looks terrific

Heart of a champion...

Wow, three match points and he escapes.

Alcaraz will likely win, but talk about digging deep.
Changing of the guard

Novak’s knee was clearly prohibiting him.

But Alcaraz was masterful. If he stays healthy - he’s gonna make a run at the big 3.

Yea that was a big time hiccup by Alcaraz but he brushed it off.

I agree that this feels like a true changing of the guard moment. It will be interesting to see if Novak can regain his top form but at this point it’s hard to believe he’ll be the favorite vs. Carlos in a future Grand Slam matchup.
Biggest question is who steps up

to Alcaraz consistently over the next decade plus? He has a chokehold on best in the world right now. Sinner needs to take that next step.
Sinner is close
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 7/14/2024 1:33 pm : link
- World #1 at 22
- Won Australian Open this year
- Beat Djokovic in the Semis and Medvedev in the AO Finals
- Lost to Alcaraz in 5 sets at the FO Semis
- Lost to Medvedev in 5 sets at the Wimbledon QFs
- Insane 42-4 record in 2024
- Hardcourts are his best surface so he’ll be a threat at the US Open

He’s a hell of a young tennis player and putting up a great year. It’s just Alcaraz is overshadowing him by being such a freak. Alcaraz just seems built better for these 5 set GS grinds, but I think Sinner will prove to be a worthy rival to him.
Amazing how each generational playe seems somehow better than the last

Sampras---> Federer ---> Nadal ---> Djokovic --> and now Alcaraz. Dude now has 4 majors, all 3 surfaces at 21 years old. Incredible.
