Last weekend I went to the Outlaw Music Festival at Bethel Woods (it's touring the country) mostly to see some music legends that (1) I have never seen, and (2) might never get the chance to see again. This year the bill is Willie Nelson (headliner), Bob Dylan and Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. TLDR: Go if you have the chance!
Long story short, everyone was excellent, but I was amazed how good Dylan was, given that he is 83 years old, but he completely rocked. I am not a big Dylan fan and knew probably only 3 songs he played, but he played every song in a blues or rockabilly style, he played piano throughout and played harmonica on probably half the songs songs, and his voice was strong and clear. Just really fun and impressive show. What an absolute professional.
Robert Plant and Allison Krauss also were excellent. I have seen Robert Plant solo before, but this was solely a bluegrass show. Robert Plant and Allison Krauss harmonize so well together. And the backing band was great, amazing mandolin player etc. And they sprinkled in some Led Zep songs, and no spoilers but there was a three song stretch of Led Zep that had me grinning ear to ear.
And Willie Nelson, I guess 90 or 91 years old now, closed out the show with a string of classics from the American songbook. He sat the whole time, but was belting out the songs and soloing on his acoustic guitar; to me it felt like watching a rollicking honky-tonk show, not a show before a 5,000+ person crowd. The crowd of course rocked right along.
So yeah, do yourself a favor and go if you can. And because Willie is the man, tickets are only $50 or $60 to sit in the lawn (I think all the shows are in amphitheaters like Bethel Woods and have lawn seating in the upper level).
That's gotta be resale I would think.
