Addison was cited last year for driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone of Interstate 94 in St. Paul. He faced no NFL discipline for the incident last year, and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge.
Yeah he’s probably going to miss week 1

to be suspended.

who even knows when the court date will be - I can't currently click a link if there is one and if it's his first offense or if he refused a breathalyzer or any one of a number of other things, can result in this not a DUI conviction.

at least as far as I believe the CBA penalties are considered.
I’ll say this again…

At least he wasn’t throwing dollar bills at naked women.

I’m not sure if this is serious but the league absolutely does not need a conviction for a suspension. You do know that, right?

For the mandatory suspension for DUIs agreed to in the CBA they do.

This should also be criminal/felony. When you drive that fast in a 55 you are putting the lives of everyone on the road at risk.

Nothing new for professional athletes.

It's a much different climate nowadays regarding getting away with it.

This. You want to lose it all? Guess so
An attorney friend of mine suggested that the penalty
Marty in Albany : 7/15/2024 12:20 pm : link
for a serious violation should be confiscation of the car.

I don't know if that kind of law is possible, but IMO, people are more willing to risk fines, loss of license, jail time and even the lives of others, but won't take a chance of losing their wheels.

I'd sell the vehicles and extablish a fund for those injured or killed by drunk drivers.

Probably out at a strip club and not available to be Addison’s DD, read to the blind or deliver meals to the elderly.

What an irresponsible jerk.

Marty

Nassau County has been doing that for years under a civil forfeiture action. They review each case individually and it tends to vary from case to case if the procedure is initiated.
Serious drunks will tends to have a DWI car, basically a piece of crap station car that isn't worth jack, so they generally slide.
They also tend to stay away from cars with a big loan still outstanding.

In Nassau County, it does not matter whether this is your first offense or fifth. Any DWI-related charge opens you up to the civil forfeiture laws in Nassau County. Nassau County does not always opt to initiate civil forfeiture proceedings.

140mph in a 55 isn’t criminal speeding?

I thought the same thing. I got a new car a few months ago and it gets to like 90 like its nothing and I get freaked out.
Moops. Thanks for the info about civil forfeiture.

They don't even need to pay for it. The NFL has a service to pick a player and there friends/people they are with up anywhere at anytime completely free of charge.

Yeah, but the players are worried that management could get ahold of the list of who uses the service.

The 49ers and Texans thank you for your support. I think most of us would be satisfied with just week 1, selfishly.
