i think the 3 million dollar question here is why the hell did we keep "Cooked Kyle" here instead of Cam? I feel like i'm taking crazy pills after seeing just how much Lowry sucked in the postseason (and pretty bad in the regular season) while Cam actually played 10x better than him.
I don’t like anything about it. He is a bad player and obnoxious to watch play basketball. He adds nothing to this roster.
When I saw the news, my first reaction was "Why?" Didn't see this coming at all.
Ok, since I've learned that he's a combo guard who is supposed to be a pretty good 3-point shooter. So I guess I see the logic of it. They don't see Deuce as a true facilitating point guard, they're not (yet) ready to rely on Kolek as the primary backup to Brunson, so they got a cheap veteran who can give them some minutes at PG, play good defense and knock down an occasional 3.
My guess is Kolek passes him early in the season; Payne is relegated to the end of the bench in the veteran-depth-but-out-of-the-rotation role, and is traded at the deadline.
It could mean Deuce is going but I don't think that's what's behind the move.
Generally, I trust this regime so I'm not going to slam the move.
or vise versa; James Dolan is criticizing the NBA's latest revenue sharing and media deals. I see his points but I'm sure there is a counter argument from the NBA... Link - ( New Window )

I dislike Dolan as much as any Knicks fan, but MSGE is a public company and the NBA deal is unfavorable economically to the company as it's bad for RSN's like MSG. He probably feels he has a duty to shareholders to speak out against it. He resigned from the finance committee (or something similar) of the NBA over issues like this.
watching aummer league and you get guys who just constantly force up bad shot or turn the ball over thinking their scoring is going to impress a team...
Nobody is looking at summer league for a scorer..
Kolek should have the ball every time down the court, he knows how to control an offense and he is constantly getting guys wide open shots
I shouldn’t be this annoyed by a summer league game

It was interesting to see Kolek start taking shots down the stretch, basically seeming to say "Fuck this, I'm taking over." He'll probably turn out to be a better scorer than anyone on this SL roster except maybe Dadiet. He's been very disciplined about being a facilitator but he's too competitive to keep giving the ball up to lesser players when the game's on the line -- even a summer league game.
definitely has talent and a good motor, the shooting could come. They might have something, good idea taking a high upside prospect after trading all those picks.

Lock Dadiet in a gym with shooting coach Dave Hopla and don't let him out for a month. Just ship in food three times a day. By the way, Knicks Shooting Coach Hopla has been with the team for twelve years which means he came in with either Mike D'Antoni or Mike Woodson. I think that it's incredible that's he still around.
His form looks good, and he moves like an NBA player, he's just had a few games where nothing is falling. Every player goes through that. You have to love what you've seen from him defensively and rebounding wise and his athleticism. Seems like a really good upside pick.
I'm old enough to remember when Heavy was a pop culture/music website with a sumo wrestler as the logo. And I'm sure their former alt music critics could make up a better trade proposal than that dumb nonsense.
is nonsense, but I have always said on this site, that much of the league looks at being a 6th man as Randle's best role on a team.
I don't think "the league" thinks that way at all. I think "fans" and some media do.
6th men don't make All NBA teams.
Agreed, who was the last player that went from averaging 24-25 pts, 10 rebs & 5 assists, to being a 6th man, while still in his 20s (or just turned 30)?
No one? This idea of Randle coming off the bench is beyond silly. I bet Thibs would laugh at that.

You can repeat it all you want. Repeating time after time doesn’t prove that you don’t know a damn thing about what the entire league thinks. You pull your opinions from Twitter/X, Macri specifically so can we please stop pretending that you’re an insider? It’s a massive disservice to those on this site that do actually provide good, inside info
Indeed.

Wonder if the 76ers tried to keep him...

1. Were people really giving him shit?
It wasn't you.

You can tell how skilled Dadiet is on defense. Seems like they may have gotten a stud defender.
Or what you said!
He needs a lot of work on offense lol
10 assists, 0 turnovers through 6 quarters.

is so freaking good. Just makes every right read consistently.

I didn’t want him at all and will gladly eat my words. Looks real good.
Skapintsev looks better than Hukporti to me.

lol - even though it's just summer league, I think it's a shock to the system for a lot of these guys - things will even out eventually

That is really something. My old, fat ass could have gone out there tripping on LSD and put up those numbers
