NFT: Amazon Reminder..

DefenseWins : 7/16/2024 11:11 am
today is the start of prime day with some great deals. Link below.

I was holding off on buying security cameras for the home and just got a great deal.
Amazon Prime Day - ( New Window )
Which cameras did you get?
Mighty1 : 7/16/2024 11:28 am : link
I'm in the market for some too
I got the Blink wireless outdoor cameras...
DefenseWins : 7/16/2024 11:37 am : link
it comes with the hub which you can plug inside of the house and that connects to your wifi network. You can absolutely use these inside too but they are black.

Also getting their doorbell camera. $30 right now and it connects to the same hub and you can see all of it on the same app.

I bought (2) 5 camera packages and they come with the hub and mounting hardware. I also purchased the 1 year plan for $100 for storing unlimited data for 30 days and also unlimited number of devices.

blink cameras - ( New Window )
I've been on the fence
Mighty1 : 7/16/2024 11:52 am : link
With those blink cameras for a while now. The reviews are either great or horrible without much in between. At this price point I think I'll finally jump and return them if there are problems. Thanks.
I have Blink but
GiantsLaw : 7/16/2024 11:59 am : link
a little older models. The only issue I've had is the quality of video is not that great. So unless the person is 10' or less from the camera it's pretty difficult to identify. IMO the outdoor cameras are not super useful because of this. Maybe they've improved though. The doorbell works well.
prime day is trash for this planet

Stop buying throwaway/wasteful items that are not repairable and will be replaced or outdated in 3 years.

reduce, reuse, recycle. Need to bring that mindset back.

Lmfao. Yep, this is Prime Day's fault. Your criteria of "throwaway/wasteful items that are not repairable and will be replaced or outdated in 3 years" can apply to most items made today. That's the world we live in.

Here is a novel concept for you... you live your life the way you want and let everyone else do the same.

I think one could make the case that the best thing you could do is actually be LESS descriptive. So much less that you stop posting entirely.

Didn't see this one coming, and I usually see the shitposts coming a mile away.
Not seeing much other interesting deals
Mighty1 : 7/16/2024 1:13 pm : link
Seems a pretty weak prime day so far.
Got a Graco
ManningLobsItBurressAlone : 7/16/2024 1:19 pm : link
forward facing 3 in 1 car seat for $130, which looked to be regular priced at $199. Great reviews from some baby item review sites.

Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Seat for any interested.

I’m using it for stuff I buy monthly, there’s a handful of things that are 20% off or so. But yeah, any big ticket items I’m passing on as it’s mostly base model stuff. In the market for a new TV and nothing enticing on that front.
I need a decent indoor security camera
DC Gmen Fan : 7/16/2024 1:37 pm : link
I have simplisafe but their's isnt mountable. I also have KASA but you need a subscription for any worthwhile use.

Dopey comment. Worry about yourself. Sounds like loads of fun at your place.

I just bought some protein powder at 35% off. Could someone who is in contact with "the planet" let me know how harmful it was and whether this is a permissable purchase?

Best wishes,

lol. Rory must be having a bad day. Holy overreaction.
I think a better deal on the blink today
Mighty1 : 7/17/2024 12:44 pm : link
Doorbell cam and 3 outdoor cam for 119 instead of the 5 outdoor cams for 159.

I'm returning the 5 cam bundle.
This is a funny thread
OlyWABigBlue : 7/17/2024 9:53 pm : link
there is something for everyone in its content. That said. it was good opportunity to get some tools that would otherwise be full tariff. Klein, Makita, Bosch, etc.
What tools did you get?
oghwga : 7/18/2024 7:18 am : link
Haven't been prime shopping but if there are tool deals that are legit I'd be up for it.

And Amazon is pure evil but goddamn it is so convenient. I will be at a box store and scan an item and if it's cheaper on prime I'll order it right from the aisle I'm standing in and open the box the next day.
Agree on the impact to local commerce
OlyWABigBlue : 7/18/2024 1:18 pm : link
but for some of the things I was looking for, the clearinghouse approach saves considerable time and resources. I found some nice Klein nutdrivers and crimping tools as well as a Makita cordless multitool. I'm locked into the Makita line with batteries etc, but no complaints as they are great tools, durable and well-supported.
