Giants have placed TE Theo Johnson on active/PUP list to begin camp. Rookies reported today.
Since Johnson was placed on PUP and not NFI (non-football injury), whatever is sidelining him happened on site, whether that is pre-existing or today.
Don’t panic just yet. Can come off any time.
And it begins

When is a Trent Williams type issue / trade request, "situation led him to distrust the Redskins’ medical staff and organization as a whole. The 31-year-old at the time said 'there’s no trust there'", going to happen on the Giants?

Yeah and Aaron Judge had a collapsed lung for months.

But, WTF is with this team that people get injured all the time.
don't

make a big deal out of this (yet). Sometimes it is just a minor thing and the player gets cleared right before the first practice.

The #Giants placed rookie TE Theo Johnson on the physically unable to perform list. He has a hip injury. There is hope that it’s not a long-term problem.

I have been blaming strength and conditioning for years. I am not a huge fan of weight training for the legs of WRs and DBs. I would rather see them focus more on flexibility.

Especially if the player was not weight training in college (legs) and suddenly introduces it when he gets to his NFL team. The drills in practice combined with weights can and likely will result in injury.

Now, I know we are talking about a TE and a guy who is much bigger and will need lower body strength to block.
I know people

I’m told Giants rookie TE Theo Johnson is dealing with a hip flexor and the hope is that this won’t be a long-term issue, per source. That’s why he landed on active/PUP today.
Good

No, they didn't. Neal never returned to play after the injury to his left ankle that turned out to be a fracture.

His earlier ankle injury, which cost him two games and from which he did return, was to his right ankle.
4th round pick has a little hippie booo boooo

Were talking about Theo Johnson.
Players need to pass a physical
larryflower37 : 7/16/2024 9:44 pm : link
You could have a minor injury and I doctor won't give you a clean bill of health to practice.
It happens all the time it could be an injury that he could play through but a doctor won't "pass" you.

Maybe we should be so lucky.

First round pick in '91 Jarrod Bunch had hip necrosis, for which there is no remedy.
This is the time of the year...

Didn’t Bunch have a knee and a shoulder?

You’re right that Bunch blew out his knee. Had a very solid year 2, then shredded his knee in training camp going to year 3, tried to come back but was out of football within 2 years
Put a Band-Aid on him.

It'll then be a Johnson & Johnson on Johnson.

If he were a veteran, I wouldn't be as worried. As a rookie, even if the injury itself isn't serious, you don't want him losing any time.

Eric's correct, of course.
I looked up last year's early PUP List and every team uses it at the start of Camp.

If this drags on into Practices -- Then we can start to worry.
All the Teams do it - ( New Window )
It's
AcidTest : 7/17/2024 12:07 pm : link
always something with this team. And now the Giants are "hoping" that his hip flexor is not "long-term." He's also of course a rookie, which means any reps he doesn't get are even more damaging to his ability to contribute this year than if he was a veteran.
Too be honest
Dnew15 : 7/17/2024 1:14 pm : link
It's really hard for rookie TEs, especially ones drafted when he was, to make a major impact as a rookie.

Historically, rookie TEs take AWHILE to develop and become contributors.

That TE room is crowded - might be laying some groundwork...

Just sayin'
