I told Larry I didn't watch this game, but I heard both my parents screaming at the TV late at night.

I grew up in Australia and in 1980 (in my mid 20's) I came to NY for a job. It took me a couple of years of watching the occasional game before I could understand what football was about.
At the time the Jets were more successful than the Giants but something drew me to the Giants. This game against the cardinals was so bad but I stayed up watching it until almost 1 AM. I was so upset that the Giants didn't win this game. I had trouble falling asleep and the next day at work I was in a foul mood.
It was then that I realized that the Giants were my team and that it mattered to me, maybe too much, whether they won or lost each week. And it has been that way for the 40 years since.

me of this shitshow! The crazy thing is that came a week after one of the best MNF games I've ever seen, GB beating Wash 48-47.

I still don't think it's the worst game I've ever seen. I was at a Jets-Colts game where the final was 6-3 in OT. Even among Giant games, I think the Tommy Maddox game was worse.

whenever I bring it up/show low lights on the BigBlueVCR account, I always get a response from Ali Haji Shiekh on what a crap show it was, and he felt bad for O'Donoghue.

There’s a blurb in the Newsday article about Giants safety Mike Mayock. I might have known this but my brain omitted it. After his Raider GM gig, haven’t heard much about him.

I also remember it horribly.

One would think that a game where 40 points were scored (especially back then) and ended in a tie couldn't be THAT bad.

But it was. In fact, it was far worse.

It was some type of toxic football alchemy that you can't really describe unless you bore witness to it.

it was so bad it was funny. Neil O'Donoghue must have had money on the Giants

On the 'Two Bills' ESPN doc, Jimmy the Greek all but predicted Parcells was a goner after the '83 season. I believe the Giants made a run after Schellenberger (spelling?), but he turned us down.

But curious where you would put among more recent stinkers such as Giants/Jets, the Giants knee on 1st down game, or say that Denver game where they couldn’t start a qb because of COVID.

Nothing else has come close.
