will br as important for this team as it was last year pre OG trade..
When you have the wing/perimiter defense the Knicks have shot blocking will not be as important having a more versatile Center who can switch and play out on the perimiter is more important IMO..
This assumes Thibs will stop playing drop coverage. Not sure he will. Though he should. Precious is good in a non drop drop defense. Hope they bring him back.

I do not know if you are right or wrong, but if you are right I don't think either Skap or Hukporti is that guy. Also responding to Ira - that's what I would have said too, but was talking today to our son-in-law (he's a very good basketball player and at least a little connected) and he says the Knicks think Sims can be the backup C. Sims is certainly more athletic about doing what nyg16 says. I have all the same reservations as you about Sims, just saying what I hear.
the Summer League, I think it needs some work before he plays against nba defenders. And, speaking of defense, Kolek needs a ton of work there. While I think he has a future in the nba, he may need a year of seasoning before he sees serious action when the games start to count.
RE: Kolek is undersized but he's really skilled and is
probably already the best passer on the roster. I love a PG who keeps his head up and his dribble.
He's 6'3", 195. I don't think that's undersized for a guard. He is a great passer and I think he'll be a decent shooter. His foot speed on D against NBA guards is the question.

I don't believe either of those numbers. He looks closer to 6'1". To me, it was striking how much smaller he looked than Rokas. I look forward to seeing him with the main squad. Either way, exciting player because the basketball smarts and hustle should absolutely play off the bench pretty quickly. Easy to imagine him as part of a bench unit with Hart that pushes the floor and finds layups and open 3s.
Like Brunson, he has short arms and he'll be a defensive liability in some matchups. But the Knicks have a switchy squad where they should be able to hide him somewhere defensively if it gets to be a problem.
but I always found it hysterical in the NBA when guys are measured with shoes on. Why do we care that he's 6'3" with shoes? As long as everyone is measured the same(no shoes), thats the only measurement that's needed.
On a side note, measuring from foot to head is dumb too. Do guys block shots with their heads? The measurement should be from foot to the top of their hands when they are raised over their heads.
whatever the reason, NBA.com didn't fill in measured heights with shoes from the combine (though it's a category on the page). I've seen differing information regarding how many inches the average player adds to their height with sneakers on but the most common answer I've found is about 1.5 inches which would mean Kolek on the court is probably just under 6'3". He wouldn't have been an option round 2 if he didn't have some flaws/concerns.

Of course this is true and I'm not saying he's a bad pick at all. He was a great pick and the early returns are that he looks like a guy that will play in the league a long time. If he was big with long arms, he'd have been a lottery pick a year ago. He's an absolute grinder, too, which Thibs will absolutely love. He's a perfect fit and between adding him and Payne, the Knicks have more PG depth than they've had in my 40 years of fandom. We've come a long way from the shandon anderson, ramon sessions and elfrid paytons of the world.
I thought Hukporti was decent too. Legit size and moves pretty well. Good hands and showed some nice touch around the basket. Very raw.
Dadiet is really intriguing. Seems like a really high ceiling and low floor guy. Wide range of outcomes. Really interesting developmental challenge for the Knicks org.
From what I could see in his Summer League play, Dadiet is very raw
That’s clearly the plan. He’s not going to play much if at all for Thibs this season.
Still shocked that he wasn't stashed. Maybe they see him as a high ceiling guy if he has a lot of NBA coaching.
Honestly, I feel like Rokas could help us more this year than Dadiet. But as soon as Cam Payne was signed, that basically meant Rokas wasn't getting a roster slot.
Knicks were smart, taking Dadiet is like taking a 1st rounder next year. He definitely has talent, needs to work on his shooting, his form is pretty good.
He seemed like a pretty good rebounder and passer, less raw than I thought. They could have a nice prospect as a 3 and D off the bench in the future.
Summer league is fun, you get some basketball to watch some young players but it is absolutely awful for evaluating talent. You get to many guys who think if they go out and score that they are going to get a team's attention.
Give me the guy who is playing in the flow, can shoot from 3, will play defense and rebound, i am not looking for a scorer in summer league

All I read from your post is that you don't want to watch Duane Washington Jr. anymore.
assumption is Dadiet will shuttle back and forth, practice with the "big club" and play for Westchester. He's shown some intriguing tools but at the end of the day, pretty decent odds he's a chip they use to improve the team in-season.

Yeah keep in mind that the 2 big trades Ainge made 2 summers ago with Minny and Cleveland included the guys both teams drafted in the 1st rd a few months prior- Kessler and Ochai Agbaji. So maybe Dadier is a chip he'd like in a Kessler trade.

In Bleacher Report's team-by-team grades for 2024 NBA Draft picks at Summer League, the Knicks' crop of three rookies received a C+.
"The Knicks have three players from the draft seeing action in Vegas, and two of them, including first-rounder Pacôme Dadiet, look like projects."
"Like plenty of others detailed so far, Kolek is missing too many shots, but he's looked like one of the best distributors in Vegas."

Switching back to #25 .. have a blessed day .. sorry for the ones that bought #1 jerseys already😓

Played 22 MPG last season; 83% of his 7.1 FGAs per game were 3 pointers and he made 42.4%.
Undrafted guy makes good. For the wrong team.

Deal is done per Rokas himself
