THE album of my 11th summer. Obviously just a hits album, but what a hits album! Me and all my friends intro to the Beach Boys while having fun at the Jersey Shore in 74.
Summer of '88 that album was a couple years old and really coming into its own as a cover to cover classic. friends of mine were just getting their drivers licenses and everywhere we went that CD was in the car CD player (yes I'm that old).
Sometimes I see pictures from that era and just looking at the pictures I can hear "Brass Monkey", "Paul Revere", "No Sleep til Brooklyn", etc. playing in the background.
Only other album that has that similar nostalgia is Appetite for Destruction and it was around that same time in fact.
Maybe a little bit later it could be the Weezer Blue Album.
Endless Summer, Born to Run, Van Halen 1, but my favorite may be Bat out of Hell just because of Paradise by the Dashboard Light. I still remember high school walking down thru the grove listening to cheerleaders singing that in the warm early summer sun.
