movie "Elf". The movie had been out for 8 years, yet I had never watched it around the holidays. Then one night I finally decided to give it a look. The first thing I see is Bob Newhart dressed as an elf. I fell apart laughing at that visual and thought "this should be pretty good." And it was.

the way sitcoms were made. To have a wildly successful show, and follow it up with one that may have been even more successful was unheard of. The Newhart finale, where he wakes up next to his Bob Newhart Show wife Suzanne Pleshette, is one of the best finales ever.
He was great in Elf too. RIP to a life well-lived.
