Who will record most sacks, in 2024 ? ....

Manny in CA : 7/21/2024 8:53 pm

Kayvon Thibodeaux or Brian Burns ?

Thibodeaux's (entering his 3rd year) best - (2023, 17 games); 11.5 sacks)

Brian Burns' (entering 6th year) best - (2022, 16 games); 12.5 sacks

I think it's going to be be closer than many expect, Thibodeaux may surprise.
It had better be Burns...

with the invest Schoen made.

I know my friend christian finds sacks repulsive as a stat, but I want the QB taken to the ground with the ball in his hands. It is a huge momentum play.
Burns

Seems logical, but pressure rate is where he will shine. It makes the jobs of Lawrence, Thibodeaux, Ojulari and others easier.

Yes. Sacks are great, but put it in perspective. Even if somebody averages one sack per game - 17 for the season - what happened on the other 50 or so defensive snaps?

No, not really. He needs to be a disrupter. Hits and pressures are almost more important. I do think he makes the entire line better - theoretically.

Yes, I think he gets 14 with Thibs at 12 and Dex at 7.
Thibs

When you spend a ton of money/assets on one guy, its always the other that blows up
I think it will be close and either can win

Im going say Burns

being the one who is the better more consistent pass rusher who has the most experience should get him more sacks.. but it probably wont be by a huge number.. He could have like 14-15 and Thibs could have 11-12.. Dex should get around 7-8 and that would be good for a DT of his caliber.

Tough call

I could see it being Burns because I think he will be coming from the blind side.

However even if Burns is successful, QB will usually flush to the non-blind side which means things should flood toward Thibs.

I think Thibs will have the highest total sacks when you include all the half sacks and QBs flooding towards him. But I think Burns will have more QB hits, pressures, forced fumbles, and impactful hits.

I don't know the # of sacks he'll end up, but I just want Thibs to be more consistent. He goes off & then he's MIA for a game or two.

I expect Burns to be the most impactful player but KT to have more sacks.
I’m not sure it matters,
Section331 : 7/22/2024 7:47 pm : link
as long as they both at least approach double digits. I’m more interested in pressure rate, where neither has been very good (in Burns defense, Carolina was such a mess, he was probably doubled all the time).
