Veteran guard Greg Van Roten is making a free agent visit to the #Giants, per source. Van Roten played well as a starter for the Raiders last year. |
started all 17 games at RG last year, 0 penalties and 5 sacks allowed. graded very well. 100+ career games played and 71 career starts. he's 34 years old and last year was likely an outlier, but would be a very nice depth signing.

and perhaps other posters read between the Tea leaves as well, but there was a lot of smoke about Neal not being ready in the spring, and the giants really weren't clear about saying that he "Should" be ready for camp. I said that when camp started I suspected there was going to be a problem with Neal's health.
Of course, nothing has been confirmed, but this is certainly interesting. Now, maybe they have had a chance to evaluate this spring and feel other depth options won't hurt, but still, I think Neal's health is an issue.
All of that may be true but Ezeudu has been injured a lot (including neck), Marcus M McKethan has been injured and shown little, we may have decided that keeping the middle protected is far more important with a more north south runners like Singletary and Gray.. Keeping Jones feet and knees clear most important as well..
May the names Ezeudu and Mckethan never be echoed here again on this good website because both are poor…..as is Neal. What a horrible draft of OL guys. I guess Bobby Johnson liked them. That explains it.
And went to U Penn

of this is making me nervous.... is Neal not ready?

We may know that soon. I think the lack of news about Neal may be news itself.
This bit I don't buy. Teams keep injury news close to the vest as a matter of course. If Neal is still hobbled, it changes the negotiation with GVW, if there is to be one. Nobody knew that Theo Johnson had a hip issue until last week, but that we didn't know anything wasn't news.
What the hell are you babbling about and who is GVW? Do you mean Greg Van Roten?
Neal never seems to be ready.I understand continuing to give him a chance at RT to justify the 1st round pick, but unless he's in far better condition than before, he's not quick enough to stop outside rushers. Move him inside where he'd have some protection & they might find out they have a solid RG!
would seem to indicate that all may not be well with Evan Neal. But maybe at this stage the entire Giants organization is desperate to capitalize on the potential of Malik Nabers/Wan'Dale Robinson/Jalin Hyatt/Darius Slayton, and if that means they have to make a very short-term pivot with GVR at Guard and Jermaine Eluemunor at Right Tacke... then so be it.
Lmao what a stupid stupid idea regarding to playing them out of position all spring… what OL geniuses we have had in our building the past decade
Spring practice is meaningless for the lines, it is no contact. Real practice starts tomorrow.

The workout could have been a favor by the new O-line coach because he is not getting offers
even when he's ready, he's not ready
Pretty much. I thought they were a guard short coming into training camp. This would solve it.
P.S. I don't think Neal will finish the season as the starting RT. Hell, he'll be lucky to start the season at this rate IMO.

I think LG would be better for him. It's his natural side and he'd be next to their best OL in Andrew Thomas on his left.
