Really good interviews with ILBs by Schmeelk

Not sure if this was posted but these guys really shed light on the differences between the two DCs. I highly recommend this.

Giants ILB Interviews: Bobby Okereke, Micah McFadden, Darius Muasau | Giants Huddle - ( New Window )
the okereke part was the best description of differences

from anyone all offseason. more 1 gapping instead of 2 gapping is a positive, that is usually a much simpler task for most DL and explains a lot of why the run defense was so poor with wink.

Yes, but Coughlin's input was really good too.

agreed - i still dont know why he hasnt gotten more chances in non special teams work. in his limited chances he has looked decent.

Muasau seems like a really cool guy. Every time I see him interviewed, he considers it a blessing to just be here.

he's an interesting pick. i wouldnt be surprised to see him not make the 53 or be something like this year's ivan pace. instincts can make up for a lot at ILB. if considering the edge's as OLB, this overall LB group is as strong as any for nyg probably since 2000.

Reading between the lines - it sounds like Wink's scheme was to bring pressure and force them into errors regardless of opponent.

Bowen - seems to focus on a more tailored game plan based on opponents. Take away what they do well versus bring the house against everyone.
Bobby O is such a smart, likable guy.....

Hoping he has another dominant season. He's looking like the leader is this D!

He doesn't get enough attention. You can tell the dude has a brain.

I wish Schmeelk had just let Bobby O take the lead and let him expound (Schmeelk lead him astray by positing what he did not know (Okereke corrected him and said, no, it's more one gap)) on the differences. He had a graphic way of distilling SB scheme (pulling on the same string following the QB/if the guy is outside your zone resp, you let him go). Schmeelk is so nervous, so jumpy, always pulling on his face and arms, trying to please, instead of letting the convo flow from his interviewee when he's so inclined. He makes me nervous watching him.
I really enjoy all the Schmeelk interviews

If BBI were to raffle off beers with Schmeelk, I would be buying lots of raffle tickets.

Agreed!!

Schmeelk has come a long way over his career. I used to turn him off (couldn’t stand his commentary) but now I actually enjoy the content he’s affiliated with. I really enjoyed the interviews he did with the different position groups. Great idea for dead time and well done content 💪
