On the rookie QBs ...
• Commanders coach Dan Quinn says Marcus Mariota and Jayden Daniels will split time with the 1s. "When he's ready, we'll know."
• Patriots coach Jerod Mayo says "Jacoby Brissett is the starting QB", but allowed for possibility Drake Maye passes him.
• Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell says Sam Darnold will get most of the work with the 1s, with JJ McCarthy getting a look, too.
The Bears, of course, have already installed Caleb Williams as starter. And the Falcons have said firmly that Kirk Cousins is their starter, and that most Michael Penix's work will come with the 2s.
Sitting a quarterback for a year kind of makes sense. I would prefer the Giants to redshirt a rookie, then play him years 3-4 before deciding on the extension.
