How can anyone be pissed? It's the absolute right move, especially the last one. Why waste 4 pitches and give your pitcher a chance to make a mistake. Just put him on.
I don't even know why Davis is on the team, let alone batting cleanup. The trade made no sense as it came days after calling up Rice. Davis has no business being on the roster of a contender. I'd rather live and die with some youngsters than continue to trot out veterans who we know absolutely suck and/or don't play hard.
The other one I don't get is calling up Vivas for 3 days and never playing him. I thought, this is it, they are benching DJLM or Torres. Nope. They ruin both their MLB roster and continue to ruin young players. I'm sure they will do the same with Jones. They will either refuse to trade him at all this year or next, but refuse to call him up and then unload when his value is in the toilet. Or, they will rashly trade him now for a crappy veteran who has a history of being mediocre at best. I don't buy these rumors about him for an ace type pitcher.
RE: Cashman can’t be sitting in the GM chair thinking
All will be ok once Stanton and Dominguez get back (and maybe even Rizzo). Figure Stanton needs like 3 weeks to get his swing down and we only have like 8 games with Dominguez. Cashman has to be aggressive with prime Cole, Judge, and Soto on the team.
right Stanton will save them. LOL. In case anyone forgot they were 3-6 in his last 9 games. He's just what they don't need: a lumbering 1 dimensional player on scholarship for big $$. Can't hit, cant run, cant field. he crushes the occasional mistake. Then will pull a muscle walking back to the dugout from his latest strikeout.
Dominguez could be a real shot in the arm if he can just stay healthy.
Can’t wait to see his lineup tonight. Man with the magic touch.
I still can figure out his comment regarding Stanton needing to build up stamina?
Please can someone on this board explain to me that comment?
Does that mean that a 30 year old can’t swing a bat about 9 times a game or trot around the bases? What does that mean?

It will be the lineup card that the analytics nerds put out for him.

Spot on. Mgrs don't have the power tday that they had a generation ago.

have played for the last 6 weeks they're still in a playoff spot and well positioned to make the playoffs.
I think Aaron Boone is terrible at his job but he is doing exactly what his bosses are telling him to do.
The Yankees played so well through mid June that they still have the 2nd best run differential in MLB. Crazy right? Aaron Boone was the manger then too. He doesn't pick the players. He just writes out the lineup card and how much autonomy for that is debatable.
We know Hal's pretty much closed has checkbook at his "unsustainable" 300M threshold. Although I'm sure he understands how bad things have gotten since mid June. So maybe he's willing to consider things now he wouldn't have 6 weeks ago.
From a position player standpoint the Yankees have terrible to below average players playing everyday at C, 1B, 2B, 3B, LF. Verdugo is going to lose his spot to Dominguez if he ever gets healthy. I don't expect any personnel changes at 1B, 2B or C but I hope they can find an upgrade at 3B which has been a black hole.
The bullpen needs reinforcements at minimum maybe some of the rehabbing players will make it back and help since the most of the rumors about trades are for starting pitchers.
The 2021 trade deadline brought us Joey Gallo. The 2022 trade deadline brought us Frankie Montas. The Yankees sat the 2023 trade deadline unless you want to count Kenyan Middleton. Only 6 left before we find out about 2024.

Rizzo, who knows?
Because Hal isn't concerned with winning. Just the tickets sold and money spent on concessions & merchandise.

At least not with the Yankees.
