Male Yankees fan assaulting a woman? Then ripping off his Yankee jersey to fight and then flex in front of the camera? If this isn’t the most Yankee thing ever, I don’t know what is. Totally on brand. Looks like Dave had a rough night.

Francisco Lindor MVP/HOF as a Met surge is officially on
Eric on Li : 7/25/2024 12:48 pm : link
if you look at his month by month he was basically "typical francisco lindor" each of the first 3 months, minus the batting average in april. he was hitting his usual 4-5 homers and 10-15 xbh with his typically solid k-rate/walk rate.

in july he's had a homer surge, though not necessarily an XBH surge, however the big thing is look at those walks and k's. he is absolutely locked in.

contact quality has been good all year but that ASG snub has seemingly fueled him to reach another level.

in terms of Met history he's now put himself in position to pass Piazza on the mets all time war leaderboard by the end of next year in like 200 fewer games. he turns 31 in the offseason and he will only be 2-3 more "typical francisco lindor" (non-mvp) seasons away from being 2nd most valuable player in mets history.

I thought the NYY fans basically stayed off the NYM
Metnut : 7/25/2024 12:56 pm : link
threads when the Mets were awful earlier this year so it would probably be the right thing to let them blow off some steam on their own thread after they got their asses kicked by the Mets and leave them alone.

We're all Giants fans after all.
pretty amazingly overall lindor is still the unluckiest met also
Eric on Li : 7/25/2024 12:59 pm : link
while leading the team in contact quality.

just as amazing is that the offense is doing what it's doing with Pete having his worst year by a big margin. lowest barrel rate, lowest x&actual woba,, lowest avg ev, add all that up and no surprise lowest xslug. in the likely event that lindor cools down they will need pete/jdm to step up and carry things again.

through age 30 wright was right at 50 fwar, lindor is at 51.4 fwar. wright didnt even accumulate 1 fwar after age 31.

Per source, A's will place All-Star closer Mason Miller on the injured list today with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal (pinkie) in his left hand. It's a non-pitching injury he suffered after pounding a padded training room table in frustration following Monday night's win.

that stinks. i guess it wasnt certain they were going to trade him but presumably every other reliever gets more competitive now.

Does anyone know what Mason Miller
pjcas18 : 7/25/2024 4:14 pm : link
was mad about?

I have him on my FB team. Looks like he pitched 1 inning Monday and allowed no hits or walks and his team won.

He threw 11 pitches, 7 for strikes.

Doesn't seem like a "pound a training table in frustration" performance.

Important clarification on Mason Miller injury: he did not pound the table out of frustration. He put his hand down awkwardly on the training table while getting ready to do an exercise.

i cannot remember a stranger injury situation over the last 3 years than marte.

2022 = supposedly plays with double groin injury, has all star season

2023 = gets offseason surgery which was supposed to make things better that instead made him even less mobile, has the migraine issue, the neck issue, probably other stuff im not remembering

2024 = comes back perhaps even more athletically diminished, can still hit thankfully, then has this weird knee issue

it's not cespedes falling off the horse but it's all very strange.

I'm not saying he ain't hurt, BUT...I think he's milking this injury as long as possible so he doesn't get traded during the deadline. Once the deadline has passed, no more problem as far as that's concerned. Just my theory...
