I feel good after watching last nights hard knocks

Jay7852 : 7/24/2024 7:44 am
The interest in getting a QB was very real (as it should have been).

John Mara has trust in Schoen.

The process was great! Having all the WRs together was awesome.

Loved Schoen having trade talks with every team in the top 10 basically. He seems to have a lot in connections with other GMs.

Staff seems very smart and seem like good people. Loved the scenes with Schoens family.

The Giants trading up for Joe Alt and or JJ McCarthy were pure smokescreen, love it!!

I think we are in good hands with Daboll and Schoen, good day to be a Giants fan.
It will all come down to whether they can get a QB

They clearly had three first round grades QBs - Williams, Daniels & Maye. The other three were second round grades I imagine which is pretty consistent with initial opinions early in the process.
Love the process....they definitely wanted a top QB

Malik was their top "non-QB" in the draft.

Feel the FA Haul and new OL coach will "fix" OL

The defense has enough talent to be solid

It Will all fall on Jones.

I still have hope that Jones will step up
well

I agree. Cautiously optimistic that we'll see a much improved O-line, which will give Jones a chance. We'll see but I am still predicting 10 wins...

As a fan, I'll take 10.
That means in most games they will at least be COMPETITIVE and that will make watching fun. This is my goal every year.

Can't determine if they thought the others were second round - but they definitely didn't have them as difference makers worth the top 10 or 12.
Not sure how you feel good

Knowing that the entire staff and front office are ready to give up on the QB who is our starter.

Whom they also gave a massive contract to
I did too because

it shows they are very honest in their assessment of the team make up and talent.. they are very candid about it all.. i loved the convo he had w Dan -you have been injured dont get upset if we draft another QB we have to do whats right if the guy is available.. then they all agreed Nabors was the WR to get, they liked em all but that is the one who stood out.. Joe and Dabs are in control of the team and the building of it.. no more the MAras are telling them what to do, that is clearly not the case in fact if they were Saquon would still be a Giant and we would be spinning our wheels again.. fix the OL was the message and they did.. team is far from perfect but it is definetly improved.. Going to be fun

This is precisely why I feel good about it!

Yes, Schoen signed Daniel Jones to a long term contract after he won a playoff game. Daniel Jones also had a second neck injury and tore his ACL. Would you rather Schoen ignore that and let him ride out his contract? He also designed the contract with an “out” after year 2.

Yeah sure, but Daboll put his feet up on the table

I don't agree that they have given up on Jones. However you have to have a plan in place even if DJ plays lights out. He is one more neck injury away from retirement and that has to scare them.
I know we've beaten this horse to death
FranknWeezer : 7/24/2024 12:03 pm : link
but it occurs to me that some of the Devito wins once we were clearly out of contention might have privately driven Schoen insane given the evident need to get into the top three, where we wound up just on the outside looking in.

I agree that DJ will stand stronger, we'll see what that means by the end of October

I feel pretty good. It is clear they wanted one of the top three QBs and it is clear Schoen is not at all impressed with Jones from the previous year.

Here's how I feel from Hard Knocks
D HOS : 7/24/2024 4:07 pm : link
I feel the staff in place (FO and the HC) are capable of building and fielding a good team. They may not get everything right, but I think the team is in good hands.

I sure wish John Mara could display leadership - enthusiasm, positivity, helpful ideas and advice... enough doddering around, hand wringing, sighing, "palpitations". Elevate those around you, don't bring them down. Stop infecting them with his worry. Their jobs are hard enough.

We could have chosen a high character good team guy (Odunze) but we chose an demanding warrior with high expectations, who hates to lose. Will become angry at failure. Good.

We deal with both aspirations - possibility of trading up for a better QB, and reality - opportunities weren't actually there, the next tier of QB's are too risky, and the current QB can be managed until the aspiration becomes achievable. They aren't delusional in other words. You can agree or disagree with their takes, but they are trying to keep it real. They are thinking things through.

Pretty much everyone loves their job, loves being a member of the Giants org, and tries their best for the honor of the franchise, and for each other.

At least that is what's been depicted on the show, and this more or less aligns with what I have believed over the last couple of years from interviews, body language, media reports, podcasters.
