…that actually tracks.

Also love that Jacobs had more YPC than Barkley, and way more TDs.
Barkley

was only 86 yards from having the third highest rushing total in team history. Behind Tiki Barber and Rodney Hampton.

Same as media guide.

How they are sorted is clearly labeled.

yeah this one is sortable, barkley is 7th in franchise history total yards and played at least 30 fewer games than everyone above him. also 2nd highest ypc of all above him.

he didn't control where he got picked or who hired the shitty coaches he played for briefly before they got swept into the dustbins of nfl history, he certainly didnt control whether or not his acl could or couldnt tear. the amount of vitriol directed his way is disproportionate to reality, which is why he got paid what he did by a pretty smart GM.

actually had Barkley in the wrong spot in terms of rushing yards. I fixed it.
Amazing to see Tiki #2 in receiving
FranknWeezer : 7/25/2024 3:27 pm : link
(in addition to #1 in rushing).
Barkley is just catching the flack of how monumentally stupid
widmerseyebrow : 7/25/2024 3:31 pm : link
It was to take a running back at that spot, at that point in the franchise's history.

But Giants pick aside, and obviously injuries are a big factor, his instincts and comfort with contact don't live up to his draft grade imo. Good player taken too high for any team.
The offense around them really impacts the RB stats
PatersonPlank : 7/25/2024 3:40 pm : link
Barkley and Ron Johnson played on much worse teams than any of the other guys on that list. I don't believe only raw stats is a fair way to compare
If I had to choose one RB for one year and knew I was going to get
mfjmfj : 7/25/2024 4:19 pm : link
their best year, it would be SB all day. If I was going to get their average performance over time, I don't think he makes my top 5. I would take Barber, Bradshaw, Jacobs, OJ, Hampton, Little Joe, and maybe others. And that is just the Super Bowl era
Tiki
Bluenatic : 7/25/2024 4:22 pm : link
Tiki has 6,613 yards from scrimmage in his last 3 seasons alone. 2,390 in 2005, which is still the 4th most ever and only 2 yards behind the 3rd most. And then he just upped and walked away from a team that would win the Super Bowl because he thought he was going to be a TV star. Wild.

no way! Tiki was WAAAAAAAY better in every way. Ran for big plays and got the short tough yards. was a GREAT receiver and excellent blocker. once he resolved the fumble issue he was unstoppable. Barkley couldn't hold a candle to him.

I’m surprised where Sterling is on the list (and who is not on it). He may have numbers — which actually stuns me given the overall lack of impact and injuries, but these guys by far were better/more effective receivers in the recent past:
- Toomer
- Nicks
- Cruz
- OBJ
- Burress
- and I’d add Steven Smith

Comparing Saquon to Tiki is an insult to Barber.

Saquon is one of the most overrated Giants ever. Good back, sure. But not NEARLY as good as people make him out to be.

Agree with this take big time. A great talent but never a great player. There’s a big difference. Tiki is a HOFer in my book. Saquon is a very talented player who never lived up to his potential. Bad receiver (other than wheel routes), bad short yardage runner, bad blitz pickup, bad decision making. Homerun hitter that left too many yards on many of his forays. Ultimately, a very disappointing Giant career.

Big Rick in FL : 7/26/2024 3:11 am : link
That Tiki isn't in the HOF. Top 15 in NFL History in yards from scrimmage. Played less seasons than everyone above him except Barry.

Most of the guys above him played at least 3 seasons more and only have 500-2000 more yards.

He only need 4632 yards to break 20k. In 3 seasons he would have shattered that. Probably would've put himself in 4th place all time. Behind only Jerry Rice, Emmitt & Walter Payton. He has a better yards per season average than Jerry & Emmitt.
Tiki was so productive

Such a shame how he ended it here. He could have been regarded up there with Eli, Strahan, and LT

Disagree, if he had remained on the team, they never win the Super Bowl. They needed Eli to be the leader, and Tiki was never going to allow that.

that's the tragedy of it. his ego got so big back then. took him years to realize it and rehab his image.
I agree with PP

Hampton would have thrived under the 2005-2010 OL's. TC would have had a big issue with SB's pass blocking and physicality imv although maybe they address that quicker.
DJ has already
Bill in UT : 7/26/2024 2:04 pm : link
passed Tittle and will pass Tark this year. Why all the complaints? :)
Seriously, by the end of this season his attempts, yardage and TDs will pretty much match Kerry Collins. Hw will have fewer interceptions, and I'm sure a lot more rushing yards. I didn't really follow the team when Collins was QB. Did he generate near the same hate as DJ?

He wasn't really. He always gets the knock that he isn't a burner. But, even at the end of his career, he consistently got behind the defender. He could make all the plays as a WR. He is seriously underrated by a lot of fans.

Worse than Hampton? He played behind some of the worst OLs every year and had a coach that ruined him by insisting on the offense consisting primarily of pounding Hampton into the middle of the line.

That playoff game in Dallas in 2007...one move and smoked em down the sideline for a TD before the half. I was there and it was incredible!
