Good day at practice...

Battles of the day

were Banks vs Nabers and Wan'Dale vs McCloud.
Got to love Banks

Guy is just confident.
Great write up

Glad to see Hawkins under "tight coverage" I think his development means more to this team than anyone else in the secondary. Really rooting for him.

Also glad to see Thibs forced a fumble out of Tracy. Its a welcome moment for Tracy and shows that Thibs has his head in the game even in practice. So many people joke about his commitment. Looking forward to him breaking out this year.
I was hoping Banks kept #25...

He reminds me so much of Mark Collins.

Last preseason, I was excited to hear about the oline rotating in with the 1s - took that as a sign that the young guys were pushing the starters to take their spots.

Turns out they were desperate for someone to step up (and nobody was)

It's left me in a state of shell shock. Is Dyontae Johnson splitting time with McFadden a good thing or a bad thing :)

TBD regarding the ILBs. At least no one is being handed the job. Beavers also got time with the first team yesterday.

You saying Thibs "smoked" Tracy? ;-)
Blurb on Dyontae Johnson

The New York Giants replaced defensive coordinator Wink Martindale with former Tennessee Titans coordinator Shane Bowen. This change brings a shift in what the team will look for in its linebacker room.

How so? Coverage ability will be placed at a premium over pass-rush ability, and this is due to the drastic drop in blitz frequency from Martindale to Bowen.

Bowen’s favorite coverage to play with the Titans was quarters, requiring linebackers to cover more range than any other coverage call underneath.

For linebacker Dyontae Johnson, that could bode well for his position in the system considering he came from Toledo as an undrafted free agent last season and Toledo’s most-called coverage in recent years has been quarters.

That kind of experience playing similar coverages could give Johnson a leg up on players who are used to Martindale’s system in earning snaps.

Familiarity with the coverage Bowen likes to run.

McFadden, even with his faults, like missed tackles, is a decent player, better at his position that our OL guys were last year. I don't know Johnson's game. But regardless, I wouldn't be surprixed to see Darius Muasau, this year's draft pick, insert himself into that mix. He seems to be a nose for the ball guy like Belton

Youth on the team gets me excited. Some need to make proper steps in theie game and go to the next level, but seeing young pups along the OL, LB and DB get so much valuable reps is great to see.
D.Johnson

seems to fit the mold of ILB they liked in TEN.
WR drill

Wandale, Nabers and Hyatt. Wandale looks great, think he has a big year

I don’t care how many “touchdowns” Jones throws in individual drills
Ivan15 : 7/25/2024 10:54 pm : link
If he can’t pull the trigger in 11-on-11 drills.
McFadden was the only surprise last year
WillieYoung : 7/25/2024 11:13 pm : link
that wasn’t a bad surprise. Our DC is going to make up his own mind on our defensive roster. I don’t think rotating guys in has anything to do with McFadden.

I'm guessing you didn't read the whole thing?

In 11-on-11 team drills, QB Daniel Jones was 9-of-13 with three touchdowns, including to WR Malik Nabers (slant), WR Jalin Hyatt (deep throw), and TE Lawrence Cager

Pinnock too. Everyone this time last year was worried about Love leaving. The additions were Owens in the 7th and that burnt out Bobby McCain. It was a huge question mark. Pinnock ended playing every snap and was good.
If you watch the highlights video
Jaenyg : 7/26/2024 9:09 am : link
You can see McFadden causing Tracey to fumble.

So either Tracey fumbled twice, or it wasn’t Thibs that caused it.

I'll have to go back and watch that. Two sources said KT forced the fumble.

keep in mind, there is no instant replay on the sidelines and reporters are not close to the action.
It’s at the 48 second mark
Jaenyg : 7/26/2024 12:57 pm : link
I can see why from the sideline they didn’t see it.
