Welcome to another series thread, this time against the hated Braves. Both teams would be in the playoffs if they started today. There’s even a realistic chance that they could play against each other in the Wildcard round, so this series carries a lot of weight. The Mets have a record of
3-3 against them so far this season. Kodai Senga will be making his season-debut in this series. The Mets completed their road trip against the Marlins & Yankees to start the post All-Star Break portion of the schedule with a record of 4-2. Click

Oh no! :-(
I hope he's ok. I was hoping to add him to this pen down the stretch.
Severino (RHP)
Senga (RHP)
Megill (RHP)
Peterson (LHP)
Quintana (LHP)
Manaea (LHP)
Do they send down Alex Young to Cuse? DFA Ottavio? Phantom injury (paging Ineptler, lol)? What then?
Once Garrett and SRF come back the pen could look like this (with a 6-man rotation)L
Righties (6):
Díaz
Núñez
*Megill (I'd move Buttó to starting rotation in place of Megill)
Maton
**Houser
**Ottavino
Lefties (3):
Diekman
**Danny Young
**Alex Young
-Keep two lefties & trade for Puk, so you'd have Puk & Diekman throwing from the left side.
-Factor in the return of Reed Garrett & Sean Reid-Foley off of the Injured List in the coming 2 weeks or so too.
If the Mets go to a 6-man rotation, the pen would have 7 guys & could look like so:
Lefties (2):
Puk
Diekman
Righties (5):
Díaz
Núñez
Maton
Megill
Garrett
**Once September 1st comes, & you can add two more players to the 26-man big league roster (a pitcher & a position player), you add a fully healthy Sean Reid-Foley to the bullpen OR Reed Garrett---whichever gets healthy second out of the two.
** = Pending any injuries, these guys are gonna have a hard time hanging on the 26-man roster. The two Youngs still have options and can be sent back down to Triple A if I'm not mistaken. Houser and Ottavino are out of options and are pending Free Agents. They'd be DFA candidates.
I've been thinking the same thing; he's been a stud in the bull pen, nine in a row tonight (shaded of Roger McDowell back in the day!), but Megill has been awful.
Is the 6 man rotation just for Senga's benefit?
Sure is a different world for starters these days; compete games are unicorns, TJ surgery left and right, 6 man rotations...20 game winners? What are those?
Glad to see Sale out of the game!

He's making me consider leaving him in the pen. SUPERB job by him there coming into a tough situation after Severino left him a bit of a mess to clean up.

Pretty much Danny. Butto's the Kevin Mitchell of pitchers, lol: He can do it all! If the Mets go to a 6-man rotation, I'd rather see Butto start than Megill. My logic behind that being Megill won't hurt us as much as a reliever like he would as a starter. Butto's a better starter than him. Period.

Butto’s biggest issue is that sometimes his first innings are rocky and against the top of an order that isn’t ideal. If you bring him in long relief against a 6th hitter then he can find his stuff against lesser bats.
For their 14th and 30th best prospects according to mlb.com

They were talking about trading Hamel and Morabito for him on MMO.com. What do you think about that?

I think both are tradeable, but it looks like Florida is looking at bats and exit velocity and the Mets really didn’t have someone like that who fits.
Love it.

That's a really good point, Mike!

True dat. My buddy WhatsAppd me nd said the guy in RF ran past that ball like Forrest Gump!
puk return looks pretty strong for miami. mets closest comparable prospect is probably parada, but im both unsure id have traded him for Puk or that Miami would have wanted him over what they got.
on to the next RP.
De los Santos a much better prospect than Parada at this point. Having a monster year in AAA at 21 and higher upside than Parada. Surprised AZ shipped him off for a RP even though Puk has been really good.

Did you see Wolverine & Deadpool? If so, no spoilers!

Another W! Was at a movie so heard the last inning on way home. Thought we were going to blow that gift in the 10th then we got another one.

Right on. I wanna see it some time this next week. Looking forward to it!
Yep. 2 trades in less than the last 12 hours or so. Trade season has kicked off.
Alverez anticipating the squeeze play and getting Laureano out was my fav play. IMO the games key play
excited for Senga tonight but can't imagine he will go more then 60-70 pitches so who comes in?
LFGM!
Love it.
lol. amazing
