Would that be nuts? This would be stopping over for a few days around Xmas in transit to Paris w/ my family. Bucket list item is to see Northern Lights w/ them. But as for “seeing” the country, it’s light only like 4-5 hours every day then??
and it was the coldest week Iceland had seen since the 90s. Having said that we had an amazing time. If you want to see the nights get out of the city, the light pollution will make it hard to see! We did 3 days in Rejkavick and then 3 days like an hour outiside in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. We had amazing views all 3 nights it was the most amazing thing. It also had a hot tub which was ridiculously clutch given how cold it was. If you're interested I can find the airbnb listing. Go and enjoy you wont be disappointed
I would rather see Iceland in December than Paris in December
She had stage 4 breast cancer at the time. We went in November. It was cold, but there is an "attraction" outside Reykjavik called the Blue Hole or the Blue Lagoon. It is a natural geo-thermic pool that has been "enhanced" with locker rooms and bars you can swim up to. We were sitting in volcanic hot water staring up at the northern lights while holding our beer out of the water,(to keep it cold). yes, your hair will freeze. It was a great night and the northern lights were amazing. dress warm, but go for it
Honestly it was not so bad.
On day it was very windy and cold.
Other than that it was ok.
We went to a thermally heated outdoor pool one night.
We had a great time..
We did not get to see the Northern Lights.
I have never heard anything bad about Iceland. Good luck!
