Taking my 7 Year Old to Training Camp on Friday

BigBlue7 : 7/30/2024 1:50 pm
He has no idea we are going yet, but it would be great if I could blow his mind and have him grab a few autographs.

Any tips in terms of what time to get there, where to go/stand?

Do they have a shop there where I can snag one something like a football for potential signatures?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!
Awesome - some thoughts

I've taken my son 3 or 4 years now. He's now 9, we just went again on Sunday.

Thoughts:

- dress for warm weather, thin athletic shirts if you have them. Despite the viewing area being in the shade (and now the autograph area), it gets very hot. I had to fight with my son to get him to take his jersey off.

- Doors open at 830am. I arrived at 8am on Sunday. Is it necessary to get there before doors open? I don't know, but I always do. The line will look very long, but it moves fast when they open.

- you can bring food. Whatever you can put into a clear gallon size ziplock (or a clear backpack/bag that meets the usual stadium requirements). Food options are somewhat limited there.

- when you get inside, go immediately all the way to the left to get your son an autograph bracelet. This gets him into the autograph session after practice (more on this later). Ask what time they recommend getting back to that location for autographs.

- I skip the "legends autographs". There will be 3 or 4 guys signing autographs starting at 830am. But the lines are long, and the current player autographs for kids is much more fun.

- after getting the bracelet, I go to the "kids zone" all the way on the other end. There are a bunch of free activities.

- practice starts at 10. Up to you on whether you want to get seats early, and how much time you actually want to spend there. My first time there we watched only a few minutes. The better sections start to fill up earlier.

- Given your son will already have a bracelet, go get your spot for autographs. Maybe around 1115am? Ask them what time to get there, don't be late it gets very crowded (though only 350 kids get in, the bracelets are first come first serve).
Make sure they send him to the little kid side, you don't want him mixing with 12 year olds trying to get autographs.

Each day they send one position group to sign autographs. You won't get every player that goes because it's alot of fans, but I expect you'd get a minimum of 4 or 5. Take video and screenshot his interactions with the players.
The post practice autograph session is my favorite part.

- And yes, they have a store selling all kinds of things, including white NY giants footballs that are good for autographs. I now know the full size footballs are $47.

- I expect training camp is cashless, like the games, so bring a credit card.

- the training camp info page on the Giants website pretty clearly walks through the logistics too.

Happy to answer any further questions. Have a great time. They do a nice job for the kids.

And a photo
