Nice film breakdown by Bobby Skinner. I know that he is 34 and league must have some reservations, or he would have been signed sooner for more money but the player ranked 13th of all guards last year. If JMS can stay healthy and play the giants will be a competitive team and we will get to see what DJ can or cannot do when working from a pocket.
van roten - (
New Window )
1- he’s an upgrade over what we had
2-his floor and ceiling seem to hover around average-above average (solid).
3-if he plays next to Jermaine E on the right side, the continuity is already there.
Let’s be realistic. What is our goal with the 2024 OL?
Ideally we can be above average in pass protection and realistically average in run blocking? That would be a win.
AT - all pro
Runyon - average
JMS - biggest floor/ceiling swing but average is realistic
Van Roten - average
Jermaine E - average
It’s a solid group
We literally just need to NOT be a bottom 5 OL anymore. Seriously, can you imagine the massive improvement across this team if we just had a 20th ranked OL? We’d have a semblance of a runn8ng game, taking pressure off the passing game. Less three and outs, score a few points. And taking all that pressure off of the D.
Signings like this are perfect. Cheap, short term, the type of band aid that can really, really improve the entire roster.
Jermaine E double teamed Dex and drove him back 7 yards. Haven't seen blocking like that since 2008.
When the HOF conversations come up let's remind everyone that Eli won a Super Bowl with the barely competent fumes of the 2007 OL. The last above average/average OL the Giants had was probably 2010? Even with the horrible OLs Eli still put up points until 2016 (except 2013) but the Giants defense was even worse than the OLs.
